What’s the worst cue you’ve ever bought?

In Detroit back in the late 70’s there was a Gus Szamboti that had at least a half dozen owners in a month that I know of personally, myself being one.

No one could play with it at all. It was a jinxy cue to say the least. Weirdest shit anyone ever saw. Nice looking cue, no one made money on it, it just kept getting sold and sold and sold. It was like there was a Gypsy curse on it. 🤷🏻‍♂️
Did Mike ever own it!

I have to add another cue. I am not including cues that were POS with bad shafts and warped butts. There are plenty of them. I am talking about cues that you could not play the game with. Ray Schuler started making some pool cues.

He made me one and you could not play with it. It was deceptive. At first it felt good. You could cinch shots make long tough straight ins but you could not move the cue ball with any control.
His billiard cue theory did not translate to a pool cue.

This may be odd, but to me, most cues play and hit solid. For some reason though, some cues just miss more and are more difficult to control the cue ball with. Maybe it's the taper, weight, balance or tip that just doesn't suit me. I don't think so though because some cues are just the opposite...everyone that plays with it wants to own it because they play so well with it.

Please post with its parent cue....

Hate to say it, I had a Runde purpleheart sneaky that was very hard to make balls with, for me and anybody else that tried it. Great looking cue, but for playing not so much.

I know what you mean about good cues. I once borrowed a $40 Palmer cue and when I was done playing I bought it from the guy for $80. The cue was almost magical. You play straight pool run 70 80 balls and it was like you're moving the cue ball with your hand. Unfortunately I was in the keys playing in a bar and the cue got stolen. I can only remember having one other cue other than a cue I made for myself that was like that and it was a Gina cue.

The cue I built for myself I've been playing with for probably 35 years. But I have to admit I've made multiple shafts for it and done tinkering with it to get it just the way I like it and you can't do all that when you're just having a cue maker make you a cue. It can be really hit and miss no matter how good the guy is.

Magical is a good way to describe it. In my 45 years of playing pool, I've known of two cues like that. One was a Gus and the other was a some unknown sneaky. I didn't own either but all the guys in the pool room would try to borrow one if they were in the finals or had a big money game. My buddy owned the Gus so I got to play with that pretty frequently. Me with that cue could spot me with a different cue the 7. Seriously, it was like night and day.

Love it...nice again CueBuddy...... I need a REVO for mine😂

Back when I was a kid I bought an aluminum cue🤣

Worst cue for the money category, Southwest. OMG it was like a broom handle. Can’t hardly believe that I’ve wanted one for 40 years and when I finally got one I absolutely hated it.
I owned one of them in college. It was my fist cue.

A sneaky Pete jacoby was the worst playing cue I ever bought.. buy my bk rush is the biggest waste of money lol it’s not better then my bk3 was except it matches the rest of my cues and when your anal like me that matters 😂
