Well you can start with a simple system for standard middle of the road type tickies that gives a predictable result and is pretty easy to vary from for exceptions. If you know where the ball is going to start with you can change one or two variables instead of changing all of them at once.
But all system talk is heavily frowned upon here. The only answer you'll get here is FEEL. Just spend a few hundred hours practicing tickies to the exclusion of all other types of shots and you'll feeeel it, easy peasey.

Not sure exactly what you have trouble with but I thought this was pretty good, especially the analysis of how to aim the rail target depending on the angle
That was my first stop.
Found a night Cafe one that was ok but not good (hope the one a couple posts up is better)!
