Congratulations to rising star Jesus Atencio on capturing the Beasley Open World Nineball Tour ranking title.
He went undefeated through an incredibly tough field to claim the championship—an impressive and well-earned victory.
Outstanding shooting. We look forward to seeing you continue your run and secure even more big wins on the world stage in the near future.

This is not good.

Jesus is not American. Why are Matchroom trying to infiltrate the US team with foreigners?

The US Mosconi Cup team is going to end up as a joke if 2 of the automatic selections are Jesus, Thorsten or Lukas.

That then means the captain has to use his wildcards on SVB and Sky, so no space for Bergman.

1. Who cares? Fedor isn't American and he's been on Team USA for a few years now. This country was built on foreigners and immigrants.
Matchroom makes up their own rules, so they can have Efren Reyes play for Team USA if they wanted. There is no "citizen requirement" for WNT, as evident by Fedor's inclusion to the team.

2. In case you haven't noticed, the US Mosconi Cup team has been a joke for YEARS now. They've been getting stomped on for quite some time, with the same configuration of players. I think a new team will have a better chance of winning, especially if new young blood like Lukas and Jesus are on it. I have no faith in Thorsten though, he's pushing 50 I believe.

SVB, Sky and Bergman can all try to earn points like everyone else instead of relying on a wildcard pick.

These are not official rankings, of course. Matchroom still hasn't released or updated its Mosconi and Reyes Cup rankings. Which is ridiculous. The failure to do this by now is inexcusable. It should have been done in January.

The point totals do seem to be accurate. They should have started with the Legends Billiards event in Jacksonville, Fla in November 2025.

Agreed. It's sad that fans have to figure out what the rankings and earnings are. We are almost halfway into the year and Matchroom is dead silent. That is troubling for the future of pro pool.

Matchroom doesn't care because they know that pool fans will show up anyway.

With all the politics and favoritism that Matchroom engages in, don't be surprised if you see Savannah Easton playing on Team USA this year.

The inclusion of Atencio would make a lot more sense than the inclusion of Bergman, who a) has never played in a WNT rankings event despite the fact we are now in the fifth year of that tour, and b) will turn 39 before the 2026 Mosconi Cup.

Want to make Team USA an even bigger joke than it already is? All you need to do is a) invite Bergman as a wildcard, a player that has avoided WNT ranking events like the plague and b) exclude young improving players like Verner and Atencio, each of whom has won a WNT ranking event. Of course, all of them can get in on points and I wish them all luck in doing so, but wildcards should go to players that play in and succeed in WNT ranking events.

Can the recent Matchroom trend of defiant opposition to the inclusion of young improving players on Team USA go on forever? Hope not.

Can't disagree with Jayson here. We can't win with 3 of the same players from last year and only 2 new members. It has to be 2 of the same, and 3 brand new teammates. The same 5-man has gotten stale for a while now, with no wins. They need to do something drastic, sort of like a Hail Mary to have a chance.

I like:
Fedor
SVB
Lukas
Atencio
Bergman

Lower tier honorable mentions are either Meglino, Josh Roberts, or Evan Lunda. I don't know who you would swap out for them though.

Fuck it, put in Hayden Ernst, Sophia Mast & Savannah Easton. I believe Tkach waves the USA banner now, as well as Ms. Styer, so either of them would be cool.

I think including a non-American is a bigger joke than including an American who hasn't played many/any Matchroom events. What's the purpose of having geographically-determined teams if the teams aren't, you know, geographically determined?

If Matchroom wants more parity, then the solution is to expand the respective geographies. Team North America vs Team Europe. Or Team Americas vs Team Europe. SVB, Sky, Atencio, Pagulayan, Morra/Bergman would be a hell of a team without even having to continue to pretend Fedor is from this side of the pond.

It depends what you consider American.

Donald Trump's mother, Mary Anne MacLeod Trump, was a Scottish immigrant who became a naturalized U.S. citizen in March 1942. Born in Tong on the Isle of Lewis, Scotland, in 1912, she immigrated to New York in 1930 at age 17, initially working as a domestic servant before marrying Fred Trump in 1936.

If the President of the US can have an immigrant mother, I'm sure the players are fine.

Would it make you feel better if Fedor became a citizen?

Bold of you to assume that Matchroom will apply their own rules fairly or equally.
