650 Fargo Quits Six Figure Job to Pursue Pro Pool Dream...or YouTube Fame?

I think you are right, the guy knows his chances of getting to 800 are slim to none. That doesn’t mean it’s some kind of scam. Assuming he makes a genuine effort, going along on the ride should be enjoyable. Similar to the enjoyment of following your FargoRate thread

everyone can improve vastly by hard work. but unless you have the best eye hand co ordination needed for that sport you can never ever get near or to the top rung of the ladder.

for all of those its just a pipe dream.

I’ve seen soooo many 650s and 550s announce they’re going for it and are gonna be pros. None of them made it. The only kid who made it always used to say he quit pool, he doesn’t shoot much anymore but his fargo kept going up and out of nowhere he was flying somewhere and winning real tourneys. He’s still only 740ish nowhere near 800 speed. Every current over 800 player was shooting 650 speed by 15 years old. This youtuber is just shooting content but I wish him luck. An over 800 can give a 650 the 3 out, he’s got a long way to go.

if your a 650 fargo at age 15 you have a shot at becoming a 800

if your 30 or older with a 650 fargo pool can be a part time hustle

are you over 30?
Why are you asking me? I'm not the guy posting the videos to YouTube and I have zero aspirations to achieve an 800 Fargo.

You is wut you am.
But sure, climbing Fargo numbers involves not so much pool, but getting by some gnarly MFs and their hordes.

Pool wise, pool is still childsplay for all to learn.

I don't think his Fargo is accurate, as evident by his low robustness.

If you watch his videos, as I have been subscribed to him for some years now, he plays way stronger than a 650 speed.

Harsh reality is no.

He started making making videos about 7 years ago. And this is where we can start. At that time i would call his play Normal compotency (about 550 the average poolhall player) . If he's 647 seven years later. #1 he does not have the skills #2 or did not put enough hours in.

Most of these 800's started when they were kids. They are close to 30 with 20 years of play in. The only way this guy ia making money in pool is a youtube channel. If he puts in the work he might make 700.

Is it possible to reach the top 75 globally in anything as an adult, even if you start your journey as a strong amateur? I say no unless it's something extremely niche.

Reaching 800 would put him one point ahead of John Morra. He'd be 5 points behind Chris Melling and Jeff De Luna. Guys who each have decades of pro tournament experience and significant titles. That just seems absurd on the face of it.

It is absurd. He isn't going to be an 800. But, if chasing something gets some clicks and let's the rest of us see what he can do, maybe we'll learn something.

Frankly, I'll be impressed if he cracks 700.

In fact, I'd set the over/under wagering at 710.5 in the next two years, and I would take the under.

There are exceptions but I think they tend to prove the rule. Larry Nelson in golf. John Schmidt in pool. But in wiki there were 8 years between Schmidt starting play (19) and his first professional tournament.(27) Not counting ridiculous athletes moving from one sport to another where their athleticism gets them by. Like track athletes moving to bobsled or Christian Okoye being handed a football.

Nelson was a golf savant. He broke 100 the first time he played and broke 70 within a year.

Anyone who solely plays race to 2 in league will never get to an elite level...

Good luck to him though.

its all hand eye co ordination. not practice or determination that allows you to get past just above average speed.

few want to accept that as that premise destroys many players hope. tough luck.

take cole dickson for example. he was playing pro speed pool at a young age. i knew and played with him when he first "started trying to play golf." he was terrible, but in a year plus some, he was shooting in the 70's.
