So I’ve been seeing a lot more Chinese videos on social media of them putting a lot of time and money to create programs/schools for billiards games. They have also been hosting big prize games to compete with traditional one.
How long do you guys think until china/Asia becomes the big dog here in the US/Euro?
It just seems to be hard to compete with the money that’s backing this drive.

On a related note, the last two world snooker champions are young Chinese players (22 and 29). When the Chinese OG (Ding Junhui, now 39) was in the finals of the World Championship, a reported 100,000,000 Chinese were watching (2016).

But.... According to a friend of mine who sells a lot of stuff in China, most cue sports games of any kind now occur on Chinese tables, like for heyball. That includes all disciplines: American pool, English 8-ball, carom, snooker, pyramid....

i've heard about pool in school curriculum in taiwan, philippines, poland, etc. but i find these stories apocryphal. i guess i too would like it to be true, pool being treated like a sport worthy of teaching in school, i just doubt it's true

I80 + million in China watched the World Snooker Championship. Viewership has taken off with the past two champions being Chinese.

I'm thinking about throwing in with the Cornhole players. The prize money at some of the tourneys is obscene for a game like that.
Wish we had that coin here.
 
If the Chinese stuck to American Pool and exported all of their players worldwide, I think their players would have eventually taken over the sport, just like they have in the Olympics. But if they stick to playing Chinese 8 ball in China, I think it will have zero effect on the rest of the pool world.

Actually I take that back. I don't think the Chinese players would have taken over even if they stuck to American Pool. The reason is the game is fragmented. They'd have to zigzag travel worldwide to compete in everything. They'd never be able to get the visas and the money support. Same issue the Filipinos face, who DO play only American Pool. Contrast that with the Olympics, the Chinese can train at home for 4 years, all get Visa's to go to whatever country its hosted at, and win everything.
