Private equity buyouts are a cancer to every line of product.
It is depressing that, in order to make money, you have to target your product to the masses that won't stand for anything challenging. Pins on strings? Nobody cares, bring more alcohol.

The strings on pins thing is perplexing. A bowler wants to throw strikes, they say strings reduces strike frequency, to me that means less fun for the bowlers. Are they intentionally trying to chase bowlers away??

Here's a related video that goes back to bowling pin boys. They still had pin boys in the 1950s -- I saw them at a small bowling alley I used to go in to.

sorry if this is off topic but I Recently watched 2 documentaries on bowling strangely enough. One was how Brunswick destroyed bowling with help from the auto set pins and destroying and not wanting leagues. The second was one was a recent one on hbo where they followed the best bowlers to the major tournaments. I had no idea bowling was in as bad shape or worse then pool. The best players are sharing 4 to a room and barely getting by chasing their dream driving from one end of the country to another. I thought from all the years I had been seeing them on tv they made f you money 
the last episode fox dropped the pba on fox and they had no idea what they would do . that was where they were getting the money to fund the tour and with that gone they were afraid the tour was over.

Pool allows for only a small number of live spectators. It would be difficult to sell out Madison Square Garden with a pool match. Sports like American and international football can sell expensive tickets and draw large crowds, tens of thousands of people, maybe more. That's a major source of revenue that pool can't really access.
The way pool has handled that is by marketing more expensive equipment with higher margins. That's good for equipment manufacturers and a few sponsored players, but it sucks for hobby players. Dubious marketing hype makes it worse. Pool is approaching golf in terms of participation cost. That's not good for the sport, especially trying to attract new players. With sports like American or international football, all kids need is a ball, some space, and some friends, and they can spend all day playing. They can develop their skills relatively quickly with little money. (In the USA, many kids are even being priced out of organized team sports, but that's another topic.) That's not possible with pool for most people who don't own a pool table. They're being priced out.

Just accept professional pool as a fringe sport....because that is all it ever will be.
Today 3k people watching a free live stream is a lot. A girl putting on her pajamas will get 200k.
I can meet any pro and play against them in tournaments with entries of $500 or less.

Pool is a bush league sport, it is for what it is, and in Willie Mosconi Book. Willies game there is a simple fact. Pool was never as big as it was the year Willie was born...........1913.
People still ride horses, but most horse owner have Cars & Trucks, the Horse is not primary transportation.
Talk to a Pool Bar, Sports Bar with Pool Table, or Pool Room Owner how they are doing? Are they existing, or making a killing.
Recall talking to Ken the Owner of HardTimesw in BellFlower about his money machine. After he finish conversation I got it was not printing money, just taking money from him to keep doors open. Don't think it was supporting lavish lifestyle.

bowling was big to watch when nothing exciting was on tv. those days are gone with all the streaming and channels.

The Mosconi Cup fills a 2300 seat venue. Snooker has reached over 6000 in China. With giant screens, the audience can follow the small details, while feeling they're participants. The MC is about $500k in ticket sales. The real money is from broadcast rights and advertising and millions of remote live viewers.
So how Pool is doing well in Asia?
