I am asking for examples of consignment dealings you had with Joe Salazar over the years.

I am specifically looking for factual information about transactions involving cues, such as:

• Approximately how many cues you consigned to Joe
• Whether the cues were sold and you were paid/settled with
• Whether the cues did not sell and were eventually returned to you
• Approximately how long Joe held the cues before the transaction was completed or the cues were returned
• Any other details that would help establish how consignment transactions were handled

This is not intended to bash, criticize, or make accusations against Joe Salazar or his family. Please keep comments factual and limited to your own firsthand experiences with consignment transactions.

If you are willing to provide this information, you can comment here or send me a private message. With your permission, these statements may be submitted as evidence in my small-claims case concerning the recovery of my consigned cues.

Thank you to anyone willing to share their firsthand experience.

why would anyone get involved in this with you and maybe get to be subpoenaed for court.

you only need proof of what happened to you. not to establish his character. it isnt a murder trail.

good luck to you though if you have been taken advantage of.

Consigned a few cues to Joe. He sold them, took his small commission and paid me the balance. No problems ever with him.

Because its a small claims case, Texas has 150 mile limit on Serving a Subpoena, I and others have attempted to deal with the estate attorney, probate has not been filed even after offer to assist with that, so this case is my only recourse to recover my property. I considered Joe a Friend I have bought and sold several cues through Joe over the last 30 years, never had any problems. Again not looking to bash Joe or the family just attempting to recover my two cues that were not sold by him before his passing.

oh. he is dead and his family wont return your cues. and the estate hasn't been settled yet.
the attorney may not even be able to distribute things yet. until its final. so you may be getting them.

not likely he is going to just give them to whomever he pleases.

you may just have to wait in line

good luck with it.

Joe's reputation from coast to coast was excellent...
Pursue ALL AVENUES OF RECOVERY....No help here on AZ in this manner at all, unfortunately.
Contact leagal assistance in His state of Texas, possibly His County and see what assistance they can offer you.
This is a tough situation, But I bet you'll get taken care of,
IM thinking the family is good , decent people, just not any experience at all"

It is easy to tell others what to do when you have no skin in the game. I empathize with Joe’s family and earnestly regret his passing but returning property to others should be done within 2-3 mths. of Joe’s death. If the original owner’s identity is not known, store those cues for 18 months but meanwhile advertise that you have them, like on FB, X, Az website. If the owners can prove the cue is theirs, return the cue at their shipping expense. But if you are experiencing hassles or what you consider is a bullshit dodge to return your property, go after Joe’s heirs with vigor and relentlessly.

My cues are special and cost me a lot of money and I won’t let anyone treat me like a jerk when they in fact could be. Not
returning the cues is equivalent to confiscating them as finders keepers when in fact the heirs know all the cues do not belong to Joe. Again, I’m sorry for Joe’s passing but stealing is condemnable even when grieving Joe’s passing.

I think it’s pretty cavalier to tell others to move on or forget about fighting to recover their cues when it is not their property, monetary loss or sentimental or valuable pool cue(s). Nope, I say form a collective effort to recover your cues because there could potentially be many thousands of dollars in pool cues unreturned. The larger the overall potential value becomes, the more likely a civil suit will go forth and by all means, also ask for potential damages for out of pocket and willful denial by the defendants to return your property after multiple requests. Let no one mistreat you.

If this guy is dead, every state has their own probate laws. I've dealt with a few estates over the years and things need to be by the book. Now if this person had one of your cues at the time of his death.

1. You will need proof that you sent it and they have it. Email conversations and tracking numbers or phone records
2. hopefully you have photos.
3. Could depend on how they setup their business
4. Most states have a time frame at which things have to be settled. In NJ i could not settle thiings till 9 months after death.
5. Contact the excutator

Plus alot more. depending on value consult a lawyer

Not going to find any help on here, you better seek legal help there in TX. They were offered help after Joe’s passing sorting through everything but they’re being shady now, imo, thinking they can keep the cues. Everyone knows most customs he had were actually consignment sales. Truly hope all those affected are made whole in the end 🙏🏼

I smell 'lawyer' here. My take is whatever is going on is being driven by some fly-by-night Tx ambulance chaser.

I never had personal dealing with Joe, met him many time at his booth in Lost Wages, never heard nothing bad about the guy when he was alive.

Death changes stuff, his family got stuck with dealing with his customers, consignees, Joe’s promises, etc.

Walmart employees say the company has changed since Sam’s death, that is what happens many time in life.

Disney is same BS after Walt died, not the same company post Walt’s death. Know this personally as many classmates & parents worked at the Mouse under Walt.

Joe has traded cues with Keith McCready before. Joe always has a wide assortment of cues with a range of prices. He knows what Keith likes in a cue, the hit, the forward balance, et cetera, and he pulls out one that he thinks Keith may like. Keith bartered with him sometimes, and if Keith doesn't like the price, he will try to get Joe to come down a little. Joe gave him a fair price and did discount it for Keith.

As I was thinking about some of Keith's dealings with Joe and cues, I have to smile. I believe one of these happened at the Glass City Open, although I could be mistaken on the exact event. Keith either didn’t have a jump cue or the one he had wasn’t cutting the mustard. He was talking to Joe about it, and Joe sold him a new one. But Joe told Keith, “Don’t worry about paying me until the next tournament or whenever I see you again.”

We used to run into Joe all the time because he seemed to be at just about every event.

Another time, Keith’s break cue wasn’t doing the job, so he went to Joe again. Joe found him a nice break cue and, once again, told Keith not to worry about paying him until the next time they saw each other.

Joe knew Keith would make good on his word, and Keith always honored his debt to Joe and appreciated his true.

No, Keith never gave Joe a cue on consignment, but all of his dealings with him were above board. Joe was honest as the day is long.

Those who are veteran AzB-ers have probably read this pool tale I shared about Keith McCready and Joe Salazar, but I feel like it belongs in this thread because it speaks about Joe's integrity.

A young Keith made an appointment to play the legendary Tracy Joe, which was Joe Salazar's pool name back in the day, at a pool room that was off the beaten path. Keith and a couple of his buddies drove out to the joint at the designated time. When they walked in, Tracy Joe was waiting for him. The place was packed with curious onlookers who wanted to sweat the match. Tracy Joe had his own fan club there in full force.

Before the first game, it was agreed that the post money would be placed on top of the overhead light, a nickel each, totaling $1,000. It wasn't 10 crisp C-notes, though. It was a bunch of tens and twenties. I'm sure both players must have been playing on committee money.

Tracy Joe and Keith wasted no time getting down to business. The match was like a neck-and-neck horse race. Whenever one of them got close to the finish line, the other would catch up. Tight races. Back and forth they went late into the night. Then Keith caught one of those infamous Keith McCready gears and put it into turbocharge, defeating Tracy Joe in several races.

Keith and his entourage were the strangers in town, and they wanted to get out of there with the cheese as quickly as possible. So, after the last set, they didn't hang around to mingle. They immediately headed for the door. The night sky was pitch-black in the parking lot. Keith and his buddies piled into their car and started their journey home.

Within minutes, the driver noticed headlights behind them, coming at an extremely fast pace. Keith's driver figured they were about to get robbed and stepped on it, reaching speeds close to 100 mph. Keith said he was scared to death. Then, on this two-lane highway, the car behind them pulled out and came alongside them on the left. Keith and his buddies looked over in horror. The car was full of patrons from the pool room.

Then the driver's-side window of the other car rolled down. And there was Tracy Joe. He had a bunch of greenbacks in one hand and was pointing at the money with the other. He yelled, "Keith, you forgot the post money on the light!" Keith's driver immediately pulled over onto the shoulder. Tracy Joe walked up to Keith's car and handed him the cash. The relief inside that car must have been enormous. What they thought was a highway robbery turned out to be Tracy Joe and the boys simply trying to return Keith's money.

On the way home, they all had a good laugh about it. They had been so intent on getting out of town after the match that they forgot to collect the post money sitting on top of the light. The would-be robbers? They were actually the good guys, and one of them was the opponent who lost, Joe Salazar.

Joe Salazar’s family has left a bad taste in everyone’s mouth that had a cue with Joe.

🤷🏻‍♂️

Doesn’t matter how nice and honest Joe was.

Sounds like you need to find out who is the Attorney over Estate, then make your claim to recover your Cue, or Cues.

Do you have written agreement with & from Joe about your consignment. With description of your cue, or cues, signed & dated?

Do you have delivery receipt to Joe. Show Joe got your Cues?

Do you have good photos your Cue, Cue's, Joe had on consignment, with details like makers signatures, scratches, or other identifying marks?

This is all evidence to make a claim, not Joe said, I said that we shoot hand had a cold beer.

I always say in god I trust maybe, others must put it in writing.

Yes I am guilty of doing business on word or verbal handshake. Thirty years has less then five bad experiences, one was thousands of dollars, and I had a contract. Paper, words, signatures, and no money to go after, he spent it.
