Advice for ADHD Player vs Slow Player

My buddy just asked me the following:

“what's your advice for playing against someone really slow? my adhd makes me lose interest and focus really fast watching slow players”

Now I don’t have ADHD and I’m fairly slow myself, so I’m not the best person to give advice. Anyone here have experience or good advice?
Just don't play.

I will add this: when i was playing a lot of pool the use of 'chemical inspiration' was quite common, even with champion-speed players. . It was VERY rare that you had to fade a slow player. Seemed like everyone was a tad 'above the speed limit'. ;)
We blew a few radar guns ourselves!!

I've got no advice, nothing puts me on tilt like playing a guy that lines up a hanger on a 7' valley table with 5" pockets for 45 seconds.

It makes me play like I'm that one ~60 yr old European snooker player who used to play 9 ball and make Earl look like he plays slow

You're supposed to enjoy this game. Not become frustrated by it.

I enjoy the game when the other player gets frustrated!

People on the phone or talking to friends when it is their shot annoys me. One favorite retaliation of mine, get down on a duck, a tap in Ray Charles couldn't miss, stroke a few times then straighten up and walk over to the side table for a big gulp of beer. Wipe my mouth, wipe my beer can, wipe my ass, not really I just scratch my ass. Then I will study the three ball run out a few minutes before getting around to playing.

Another favorite, particularly when they are talking to friends by the table, is to wander over to the counter and talk to the counterman. I'll make my opponent come get me. "Oh, are you ready to play pool now?" By the time I do it two or three times even the dimmest bulb figures out it isn't accidental. Another deal, get wrapped up choosing a song to play on the jukebox. If I really want music I know exactly what I want to listen to and select it before the game starts. When my opponent puts crap on the jukebox I'll retaliate with ten or fifteen minutes of Hank and Lefty. The games off the table can be more fun than those on the table. I was shooting into a corner pocket from only a couple diamonds away when the fee-ma-lee with the other player leaned over the pocket and let both tits hang free! I drilled the center of the pocket then ambled over. "Not bad but I have seen better!" She was pissed, he was pissed, I was laughing!

If you are an ADHD player just give me your cash right now. I will torture you and your handicap. I will play mythodical and break your tempo.

I've found it only bothers me when people are slow when I don't respect the reason for being slow. Like, if you're straight in and a stop shot will serve just fine, I don't want to see you taking more than 20 seconds to figure it out. On the other hand, when I freeze you to that blocker and you've got to go six rails to kick out of it or you lose, it doesn't bother me at all that it's taken you ten minutes to map it out.

The trick on how to handle this is to maintain that respect. If they're straight in, assume it's off-angle. Assume there's something about the shot that you simply can't see. Stay in that mindset. Yes, this is a bit of a mental game but this is how you win that game.
