It’s extremely rare for me to lend money. If someone is in a bind I give them the money. That way there is no expectation that they’ll pay it back and the relationship isn’t strained if they don’t.
In all my years I’ve rarely had a friend or family member come back to “tap the well”. Most people are appreciative of the help and pay it back with good will down the road.

A good friend asks to borrow my knife; I ask if I can cut something for them. A good friend asks to borrow my tools, I ask what repairs I can help them with or, sometimes, I gift them one of my spares if I have one. A good friend asks to borrow my cue; I point them to the house cues.
That they're a good friend doesn't imply they know how to properly use or care for tools. Usually, if they have that knowledge, they don't need to borrow; they already have their own.

Consider hardcore gamblers will have no concern over taking your money so why trust them with your property. They might even be straight up - until they get drained a little. Now it's personalized economics; not too many steps from Ponzi economics.

As far as loaning out your stuff, I don't see a problem with it.
All my customs with maple shafts stay hanging in the closet but I play with Cuetec in public so my good stuff doesn't get damaged or stolen. I keep a spare case with a Cuetec w/ cynergy shaft, break cue and jump at my shop and loan it out to friends and acquaintances fairly often. I would do the same if I played Revo since they are also difficult to damage and easily replaced.
