I think of the break as a skill set, so why have rules, and so many rules, restricting the break?

That’s the issue..it’s so simple to say ok the eye test says thats a soft break so you get a warning and now we monitor your speed for the rest of the match if gots below a certain number it’s a foul. So I agree the rule is to erroneous and can easily be fixed with an app we all have on our phone.

The thing that I do not understand is that, if they get a certain amount of balls up table, as the rules require, then why can it still be considered a Soft Break? I mean, if they are breaking hard enough to get a certain amount of balls up table, past the side pocket, or whatever the rule requires, then calling a Soft Break (foul) on them should not be possible. I really do not know about that rule though, but if there is one, then that should be all that is needed.

My understanding is that the rule reads as follows:
“All Players will be required to use a forceful break when participating in World Nineball Tour events.”

They then give the referee discretion:

“The determination of a forceful break will be at the discretion of the officials at the tournament.”

no three balls to kitchen rule in WNT events. that rule is quite stupid and frustrating, as anyone who has competed under it will know. speed gun is much preferable over that rule

What a ridiculous stance.
How's it a ridiculous stance? Watch any sport worth watching... Rugby, Cricket, Snooker... Guess what happens when you argue with the ref... you're ejected, and everyone on and off the pitch (or table) thinks you're a poor sports person and an idiot.

It's not like the ref made a physical error, he made a subjective call. The ref is doing what referees are paid to do, follow it up with the organization instead.

You say things as if they are fact when they are just your opinion.
You can have your opinion, doesn't change my life one bit.

I am pretty sure that call comes from Jayson. He is MR golden boy and he uses that. Spanish Open couple years ago I lost to Arab guy hill hill to get in last 64 and he faced Jayson on next match. Arab played very good vs me too and drilled Jayson 8-0. Then Jayson called MR and security came and they removed Arab´s brother from audience because "he was sharking Jayson" and I was there. There was nothing.
So Arab got so upset he totally lost focus and game... That is how Jayson works. I am pretty sure Jayson said something to ref or someone who informed ref to call soft breaking. Those breaks looked pretty standard speed on tour for me.

At carom, the player is allowed to ask the ref to reconsider his call one time, but it's not an argument or a discussion.
In my head I am imagining that It's a bit like asking the umpire if the batsman is out while playing cricket? Is that a good comparison do you think? That the player can make an inquiry, to which the umpire makes their subjective opinion known on the facts available. Nobody argues with the decision once made.
