Your position is quite sensible. I wouldn’t argue if Sky was picked. But to me, Mosconi selection should be based heavily on commitment.
Sky has played in just two WNT events this year. His money earnings are on track to be the lowest since 2013 excluding the pandemic year. He has been scarce all around and appears to have taken the Mosconi for granted.
Maybe he has valid financial or personal reasons, but it’s irrelevant to me.
Bergman, who’s a bit reclusive, has tried harder to get on the team and he has been bothered by how well the U.S. has performed. That’s the attitude I want.
Bergman has, of course, has also played in the Mosconi before. He is not a newbie.
Sky seems to treat it like a show. It is a show, but I want players to take it very seriously. Not because I want the U.S. to win so much. But because it’s great drama and TV for a sport that needs it.
