its like using physics to explain how to walk. or arguing how to explain walking to someone,

its chemistry
, the chemistry of your brain
when you learn through experimentation and repetition, then that's when you know just how to do it.
and can do it without making costly mistakes.
It isn't. Walking is a bad example because it is natural and simple. Pool is neither.

Say instead, it is like using physics to explain how to be a competitive archer. It is very applicable.

The rest of what you said is correct.

What is wild is that your measurement uses every possible variable, including the table you happen to be using.

But it isn't your fault... we really have no way to talk about where exactly on the cue ball a specific shot should be hit WITHOUT referring to the outcome, unless we strictly talk about tip contact point, and Percent From Center.

I would argue that direction from center (using clock analogy, as you do) and degrees from center would be a superior metric.

Which image do you consider “one tip from center”? I am getting different answers from different people.

EDIT: Thanks for your responses. I've been asked by a few to add an option to the DigiBall app to show "tips" of English based on the width of the users tip. I've been against doing so and I am using this thread to show that not only does "tips from center" carry two variables with the definition, but that people don't even agree on how to reference it.

The DigiBall reports the tip contact point (where the actual force happens) as a percentage of ball radius from center (acronym PFC). The range is 0% to about 55%. It is independent of tip diameter, tip curvature and ball diameter. This way there will be no more subjectiveness to the measurement and people can have conversations without the fog.

We have never had a way to exactly measure the tip9 contact point accurately and repeatedly, until now! ;)
Forget about all this and you'll be fine. There is no definable hit point on the cue ball. At least not for any good players. It is done instead by "feel" knowing where you need to hit the cue ball on the shot to get the desired result. It could be (and usually is) a different spot on the cue ball on every shot in the rack!

I don't think I have ever "knowingly" mentally counted the number of tips of English I put on the ball.

I do it from instinct.

I visualize where I need to put the cue ball and then I hit the cue ball and it usually ends up where I wanted it to go.

I think I hit the cue ball out farther on the edges at times than anyone I know and I have had uncountable people ask me how I can get so much spin on the cue ball and hit that far out without miscuing.

It came from hitting a million balls starting from a young age and spending thousands of hours of experimenting when I was playing alone in the pool hall growing up.

Afterward, I saw people perform something and I could replicate it easily.

Some skills require lots of prior time at the table before you can actually do them.

Wade Crane could hit way there too and spin (throw) the ball in. I learned the value of the throw shot early on, just like you. It's all about developing a feel for each shot.

When you coming to the Philippines. You're halfway here already!
