Old BCA championship at the Riviera had the open teams tournament which only allowed one "Master" or I believe "Grand Master" skill level player per team. 5 people played in a match like they do now. They also had the Masters level tournament that allowed a team of all Masters level players. They have since switched to the current skill tiers of bronze, silver, gold, etc. based on Fargo

if so, he probably would have admitted that in the interview- he seemed pretty candid about everything including Appleton pooping in his shoe as a prank!

And yes, if you go into a tournament like this drastically under handicapped you are robbing the tournament.

quite true- I've seen players get disqualified for misrepresenting their skill level before the Fargo era- harder to hide your speed now

I looked through the years around that time, nothing! The plot thickens... Maybe it wasn't APA, that's what he said but he may have been mistaken, which is funny because in the interview he talks about having a genius level memory.

Its surprising how much power one league operator can impose on your locals the governing body, especially when one operator may have 600 + team$.
We had a Very successful operator in CO Spgs that died and passed it to his son, that would not let Scott Smith into their league, he was considered a pro, but this was not an APA rule from the BOD or was it?

That’s where I’m hoping someone with knowledge of the specifics chimes in. Masters has 4 people per team, he lists 6 in the interview, so most likely the team event. And if that’s the case your roster can’t have 5 players whose handicaps add up to more than 23 , so what handicaps were they playing under?

Maybe putting this together with Stu’s recollection it was actually BCA. Maybe they played team and then Darren took second on the singles.
