Meucci or not ?

Hi everyone,

I’m trying to identify this vintage Gambler-style cue from a large cue collection.
At first glance it looks very similar to older Meucci Gambler cues, but there is no visible Meucci logo, so I don’t want to assume anything without better evidence.

Here are the specs:
Total weight: 21.7 oz
Total length: 58.5 in
Butt length: 30 in
Tip: approximately 13.2 mm
Joint: appears to be 5/16x18
Wood-to-wood style joint
Vintage maple shaft
Butt and shaft roll straight
Internal weight bolt / Allen-style construction
The design, joint and overall construction seem very close to vintage Meucci, but the missing logo is what makes me hesitate.

Has anyone seen this exact cue or know who made it?

Could it be an older Meucci Gambler variation, a private-label cue, or a copy from another maker?
Any help would be appreciated. I can add more close-up photos of the joint, butt cap, shaft insert, bumper area, or inlays if needed.

That is a brass piloted joint.
Along with the metal rings, synthetic wrap, and a few other differences, one can see it isn't a Meucci.
This is a cheap Asian import clone.

Thanks, that’s exactly the kind of detail I was looking for. I noticed the missing logo, but I wasn’t sure whether the joint and construction could still fit an older Meucci variation

There are plenty of them. Most are just a "gambler theme" with design cues similar to the Meucci, but I have seen them like this that are basically directly ripping off the famous Meucci design.

For many of us, we can tell immediately from a mile away.

When this guy said he was selling off a "large cue collection" it drew my attention. Does he know what he is doing? To someone that knows what they are doing there would be zero suspicion that this is a Meucci. None. Zip. Zero. Zilch. No excuses.

I had already seen this cue for sale on eBay so I went back to find it and look at his other cue ads.

Nothing of note there. But if this is a large collection, and it looks like this guy does not know what he is doing, I wonder what else we will see pop up for sale...and what he is asking.

It looks like his descriptions come from AI or AI based cue research.

I think he had this one at $400, and now it is $300 after finding out it is a cheap Taiwan copy here.
 
Damn chill hahaha i lower the Price exactly because of you guys confirm the concern i was having 😅 i already sold a couple of cues and everybody was happy about IT, m'y grand dad died he had a big Cue collection i just started to sell it thats it. And yes it does came from AI because he help me alot Saving Time and help me to find what cues exactly i'm selling.

What other cues did he have? Other than the ones you have on ebay.
 
Yeah, that was my thought too. I was wondering if maybe the butt cap or lower part of the cue had been replaced at some point, which would explain why there’s no Meucci logo. But all your explication make sens 👌

Try 100, closer to the real value.
 
just plug away selling what you want. dont represent something as anything you are not sure of. just say this cue for sale.
then its up to the buyer to decide if he is willing to take a risk.

That's really best.

Cues listed as "unknown" or "unbranded" get attention.

Guessing wrong looks bad, some will immediately shy away thinking the sale might be a scam.

Maybe there's a diamond hiding amongst all that low end stuff. Might be worth keeping one eye peeled.
 
I picked up a vintage, MEUCCI Gambler for $140 that had no logo. I have pics somewhere. The seller was sure it was an import. I studied it. The work was so clean for its age. It had a beautiful micarta ferrule. My Spidey sense told me it was special, so I gambled for $140. A good friend of mine who collected Meucci’s saw it and was going nuts so it went to him.
