Bumperless cues

Does anyone have a picture of a bumperless cue butt without the bolt inserted?, or a picture of the bolt itself? I'm looking at a bumperless cue that is a little light and am wondering if I can add some weight to it. Thanks.

If its bumperless its probably not been tapped. If its been tapped then you have a number of lengths available to swap out. However you may need to have it tapped deeper if the cue maker only tapped enough to accommodate a smaller bolt. So you'll need to determine what's in it first.

A picture of another cue won't do much for you. You need to inspect the one you're looking to buy and determine what state its in so you can make a choice if you want to modify further, doesn't need modification or if you want to pass on it altogether.

I was thinking of boring and tapping the hole a little further until I attain the length needed to add more weight. I have a lathe and dozens of various weights so that shouldn't be a problem. I was just wondering what I was in for as this is my first experience with a bumperless que.

Crap shoot. Is it capped? Solid phenolic on the end? Someone glue a quarter up there?

You’re right though, if you need to tap it and you have some fundamental experience dialing a cue in on a lathe and drilling/tapping… it’s not all that hard.

All the main suppliers carry pretty much the same weight bolts and thread pitch with varying lengths.
