good luck with keeping your shaft clean, i use a damp cloth, its almost dry, it its wet it will raise the grain of he shaft-no good. when I use a hand towel to dry my hands, I wipe down my shaft with it. It dosent look clean but it is all the dirt/chalk is in the wood and dosent effect the shaft, all my shafts look well used.
