    TAP League

I'm seriously thinking about joining a TAP 8-ball League next session. It's pretty new to our area. I've played mostly APA and ACS/BCA, so I'd like to better understand the differences between TAP and the others. Also, what should I look for in TAP sandbaggers? Thanks!

    Another APA 8 ball situation

    Fair enough and well said!

    Another APA 8 ball situation

My point of view depends on his opponent running everything and trying to break out the 7 but possibly tying it up with one of those 3 stripes again. Thus moving those stripes. Otherwise, as long as his opponent shoots the 6, he may be able to use the foot rail to kick into a safe using...

    Another APA 8 ball situation

Jude, I agree with your earlier post on "hit and pray", so my page 2 assessment was an variation on a theme. Get that 4 near the cluster and pray he doesn't break it out cleanly. Even a strong 7 can miss a breakout with multiple balls are in play (once in a while).

    Another APA 8 ball situation

The only other shot I see for Page 1 is kicking off the short rail. You may have to use a little left english to get back at the 6. I don't like your chances in that rack at all. In Page 2, I looked for an option to tie up one of his balls near your cluster. The 10 into the 4 might be an...

    Mika vs Robles in-game thread

Both guys are class acts. Tough call, but I'll go with Tony. He might be a little hungrier than Mika.

What's the difference between Skill levels in APA

Solly, You could be anywhere from a killer 4 to a solid 6 in my area. The deal is sandbagging to stay down, or let your stroke out and go up. Truly I'd have you at a 6. Your team mates, most likely, would ask you to sandbag enough to be no more than a 5. But that would be up to you.

    APA Lag Question

While Jude is absolutely correct, here's a link to the rule book. The definition is on page 1. http://www.poolplayers.com/8-9-ball-Rules.pdf

What's the difference between Skill levels in APA

Been playing APA for years now, and I agree with all of the posts so far. Storm did a good job.

    Kid Delicious?

Thanks for the correction. Hopefully we'll see him in an Action Challenge or something soon.

    Kid Delicious?

Take a listen to the Runout Radio link below. As I recall (it's been a while since I listened to it), Danny states he has health concerns. http://www.runoutradio.com/episode10.html

My secret to APA 9-ball success

You are so correct, sir. The 7'er was my friend. And, my opponent did play pretty good when he had open shots. He missed a couple 9-balls that ended up leaving me out and thus breaking again. The total match was 12 innings.

My secret to APA 9-ball success

You're probably more qualified to answer than me, but I think the pros aren't playing by APA rules, and therefore might not want to use that strategy. :D Fortunately for me, I wasn't making a ball on the break and leaving myself hooked on the 1-ball with the requirement of taking a flier, or...

My secret to APA 9-ball success

Last night, I played an APA SL6 in 9-ball. I'm a SL7. Normally, we're a pretty even match at the 55 to 46 pt race. For those that don't know, APA 9 ball is more like straight pool scoring. There are 10 pts per rack with the 9-ball counting as 2 pts. Therefore I have to get to 55 before my...

Should there be a clean table and balls in league play?

My experience is similar to Gregg's. However, I will take it upon myself to clean and level the table before play (as long as they have a brush). Once, I took a bar towel and cleaned a table an hour before a match. That table was truly nasty.

    Ball-in-hand ethical question

I usually pick up the CB and hand it to my opponent when I foul. Or if they're walking to the table, I move the CB with my cue towards them. I have ADD, so I'm guilty of not noticing an opponent's foul from time to time. I always appreciate it when someone let's me know.
