Re: ball colors. Seeing better is not the same as understanding better. They want to make it easier for the audience to understand what's going on on their tv screens? They achieve the exact opposite, because the audience is overwhelmingly people who play pool with the traditional colored balls...

Johnny, doesn't the bending of a wood shaft have an impact on deflection? If not, what's the point of a laminated predator or a carbon fiber shaft?

Good question(s). I figure the only alternative to making a legal foul is to incur a foul that constitutes unsportsmanlike conduct, which would presumably incur a penalty assessed by the referee, or a warning. But the rule books seem sorely lacking on the whole question.

I agree that's the other side of the coin, Mick. I see it as, what's the minimum effort required to execute an intentional foul? Seems the bottom line is that the rules don't answer the question from either perspective.

Does the cue ball have to move and contact something; does the cue ball have to move but it doesn't matter whether it contacts anything or not; or, can one intentionally foul simply by touching the cue ball with the cue...
