Cheap cue fail - paint chipping off

No pics, he's got the cue with him - should have thought of that, but for the sake of conversation, 2 small chips about an inch apart, about a week apart in occurrence.

Cheap cue fail - paint chipping off

Thanks for all the replies! As far as gothic fingernail polish goes, I had some USMC-issue M-Nu which worked well for a Band-Aid... he's gonna work with it some in the near future and see what he can do. In the meantime, were still looking at replacement cues - did go over to Schmelke as...

Last Will & Testament Wish For Your Cue(s)

I don't have a collection per se, but in my pool room, beside my players, are the cues of my youngest son and one of my uncles, both died in the last few years. It's important to me.They're not worth anything except to us, sometimes visitors use them. I hope my family keeps the poolroom active...

Cheap cue fail - paint chipping off

Just about 5 months ago, I got my adult son a Player cue. The Player is 21 oz, solid black, described as "stain", but has started chipping off like cheap paint in the middle of the stick - he has 2 chips about an inch apart. This is not from any contact to the stick - he's very careful with it...

    Funny pic/gif thread...

I'm sorry, but this needs to be reiterated at least once - a lot on this thread is funny, but not much makes me laugh as hard as this did! :D

Might be visiting Arlington, TX for work in a few weeks

Rusty's no longer - it became a Rack Daddy and then a Black Berry's. Clicks has at least one 9 ft table, and is a pretty nice place (clicks.com), but Ft Worth & Arlington are mostly 8 ft tables. Speeds (owned by Clicks) is also pretty good (for the area) and is real easy to find (I-30 & 360 )...

Is there an established system for discussing stroke speed?

No doubt - the variance is there, and will always be there. Question is, what is the best way to communicate with other humans - I don't think you can gauge speed effectively due to changing tables and other shot variables, but you need to be able to describe how hard to hit the ball. Of course...

Is there an established system for discussing stroke speed?

 Yeesh, this forum is just Brutal sometimes... Anyway Here's my 2 cents worth: There seems to be no standard, the point is to understand the terms of whoever you're learning from. I like this definition from Ewa's book for idiots: Pocket Speed: As soft as possible to pocket the...

    Identify stacked leather types?

Been looking at stacked leather wraps (or is it Stack(r) leather wraps?) and really like the appearances, but cannot find any pics which tell me which is which. This is a real Google fail for me and I'm going nuts because I see something really cool, but have no idea how to tell what...

    Designing your cue

VERY Nice! I was thinking along the same lines myself - may be years before I spend the money, but can't keep myself from thinking about cue designs! I want to play too!

    House Cues

I have been very happy with my Lucky & Star cues (by McDermott). They're good cues, Lucky starts at $47, and you can get them from Muellers.com (or whoever) with whatever weight, wrap, ferrule, and tip you want. My player cost me $118, all told. For me they're great starter cues, but for...

Letting kids play on my table

Wow! Now here's a thread that stirred up everybody's passion-infused opinions! For kids, my thoughts are: 1) Excluding food and drink from the room/area is essential 2) Including at least one adult is essential 3) The whole idea is pointless because they're too short to play. (told my...

    Cue joint preference

I've been playing with wood to wood from my Lucky cues, but my son wanted a Player with metal to metal. The difference in how the cue sounds is very noticeable. To me, the wood to wood is quiet and natural, and the metal to metal sounds like a miscue when he hits, but that's what I'm used...

Why do many players spend more on a cue than they do for a pool table?

Quite an interesting thread and lots of pretty pictures! To the OP - My investment so far has all been based on function and budget. For my original set up I bought a GC2 refurb deal for about $3k. For cues, (4 humans + break cue) I've been buying Lucky, Star, and Player cues, and...

    Break Cue Weight

I like my break cue to weigh 21 vs 19 because it makes me grin as I'm approaching the table. :grin-devilish: EDIT: I did start breaking better when I first started using the heavier cue - not to discount anything being said. Maybe it's psycho-logical, but the heavier break weight is a win for me!
