Scoring Beads - length, height, distance?

What I did is mount hanging brackets on an 8ft stick of leftover baseboard from the walls - so matches the room. Beads are strung on wire, board is hung on studs. I did get that green-vinyl coated clothes line to use originally, but then found out that the inner beads are drilled smaller than...

    Building a backyard pool room

Am loving having pool at home, as is everyone else in the family! Construction continues - finally added (and stocked) the mini-fridge, TV is wall mounted and playing DVDs and CDs (no internet yet), and tonight I got the scoring beads hung! :)

Do you play the table or your opponent?

Thought of this in the thread about distractions, but wanted to break out the question in a separate thread. In chess, there's generally 2 schools of thought on how people play - many try to focus on the board very technically, almost to the exclusion of their opponent, others like the...

How to focus and be blind to surroundings

Hey, I know that place! Great place to do shots with friends and play with the waitresses - forty bikes out front (on weekends at least), but not the best venue for actually playing pool...

Scoring Beads - length, height, distance?

Can I? Can you link me to some instructions? Would I need to screw up the new cloth? Do I need any skills? - seriously, I would like to see some form of instruction on cleaning or replacing them...

How to focus and be blind to surroundings

I use a specific methodology for distractions - I soak 'em in. I walk into the bar, I take in everything, look at the cute girls, the ugly guys, check the TVs, basically case everything going on. Next, any time I do get distracted, I accept the distraction - watch the music video or hockey game...

How do you aim bank & kick shots?

I use this system, because it's on the piece of paper I have and it makes sense to me:

Scoring Beads - length, height, distance?

Beneath_the_sur, Surprised - you make that look easy! Looks like it works well. What is your total length, about 7, 7.5 ft?

Scoring Beads - length, height, distance?

Jems, Thanks for the pic, I don't mind flipping it on my PC to look - cool idea making a running shelf from it. That's a really LONG configuration too, what is that a 12 ft span? Nicely done!

Gambling...not sure I like it, even when I win.

100% agree with the OP - could have written the post myself. I think lack of $ is the reason I can't comfortably gamble. I grew up without blow money, raised a family of 6 on one non-college income - gambling has always been impossible to enjoy - even now with kids gone and a really good...

    to smooth a shaft...

First, thanks to Ideologist, that makes perfect sense, no doubt you're right, whoever turned my shaft down also gave it a nicer finish than out of the box, but had the right equipment to do so. Secondly, I like the turn this thread has taken - lots of good suggestions to consider. I do have a...

    to smooth a shaft...

I've never used shaft paper or sandpaper on a shaft. Recently I've purchased 2 cues, and received a set of house cues. One of the cues I bought was turned down to 12mm and that cue is a smooth as glass to the touch - noticeably smoother than any of the other shafts. How do I do that? What's...

Scoring Beads - length, height, distance?

I'm using the standard set shown above, and green-vinyl-coated clothes line for the wire. Picked up a turn-buckle and some hooks and clamps, etc. Haven't really figured out exactly how I want to do the install yet, but I'm thinking about some wood at each end to make things easy and secure.

Been there, done that - he's right, this is probably one of them most useful 'improvement' devices I've used.

    Equipment to improve your game

I'm still near the bottom of the learning curve - being a lifetime banger who's just starting to chase real improvements, and I am getting better. A few things I did that helped me a lot were watching a variety of instruction videos, playing VirtualPool 4, and swapping my $15 cue for a...
