    Cues at home

I'm lazy too. That's why now both my playing cue and break cue have uniloc joints.

Get rid of jump cues for Mosconi Cup

You should take in a piece of paper that says "No Chalk" and tape it below the rules sign.

Get rid of jump cues for Mosconi Cup

That's interesting. I have heard there are pool rooms with "no jumping" signs but I always assumed that was because too many of the uninformed use "scooping" in place of jumping and risk damaging the cloth. It seems like jumping gets more popular all the time so will this result in a backlash...

    Cues at home

Do you store it assembled in a rack or do you have a rack that allows you to break it down and store it in two pieces? I've seen racks that let you store the butt and shaft separately but I don't know too many people who have those at home.

    Cues at home

OK, this is a spinoff of the Cues in Cars thread. When you get home from a tournament, league, etc. what do you do with your cues? I have a bad habit of leaving them in my case and setting them in a corner somewhere and I'm guessing that's not best. If I'm thinking I set them sideways on my...

Get rid of jump cues for Mosconi Cup

Didn't he try to pull out his jump cue playing Shaw at a tournament there but couldn't because he hadn't assembled it before the game or something like that? Earl should at least make money off of this whole thing. Maybe he needs to come out with a t-shirt that has a picture of him jumping...

2015 post of the year -- send in your nominations

Mobsters (Mafia) that were really into the pool scene?

You are correct. There is no protection for those. Movies reuse titles more often than most people realize. http://copyright.gov/circs/circ34.pdf "Copyright law does not protect names, titles, or short phrases or expressions. Even if a name, title, or short phrase is novel or distinctive or...

    How do you unhook yourself?

I'm sure all professionals or even shortstops do the same but I'm curious what lower skilled, recreational players lean on more. So far, my experience is that A and B players tend to favor for some combination of options rather than being proficient at all of them.

    How do you unhook yourself?

I really don't want to get into the whole jump cue debate so I'm asking this question in a new thread. When either your opponent or the pool gods (aka "lucky leave") leave you hooked on the table what methods do you currently use to get out of it and make a legal shot? Do you prefer to kick...

2015 post of the year -- send in your nominations

Not sure about post of the year but this one has to be in the running for "Thread of the Year". An Open Discussion about an improper Banning Edit: This one with a little sideways too. can anyone id this pool table?

I don't think I own a single pair of pants that aren't slightly more worn on the left front where my cell phone in my front pocket rubs on the pool table when leaning over for a shot.

    New Rating System

And what are the restrictions on the sources. I did horribly at the USBTC and my rating on Fargo reflects that. I'm at least a hint better in my local leagues but since they aren't sanctioned leagues, that data isn't part of my Fargo rating. The local tournaments I play in are also not in the...

    New Rating System

This is well timed for me since watching CSI Podcast 18 finally, I now have a lot more questions about Fargo rating. What if I don't play in an BCA league? Can I still get an accurate rating? It sounds like it takes 200 games to become established. I think something like the Fargo rating...

Best gamblers vs the best tournament players? Who has more skill?

I have heard stories that a lot of the really high stakes gambling involves long races (50 or 100) and can grind on for hours and hours. I can't even imagine how long "15 ahead" match would take between two pros. My perception is that tournaments are usually much more intense for much shorter...

    APA and WPA Rules

Bar rules, APA rules, WPA rules, BCA rules... I have been involved in a lot of sports and I don't recall ANY of them having as many rule variations as Pool. Yet one more aspect of this game and industry that creates a barrier to entry for new people. And I love it when I'm half way through a...

What is your favorite pool memory of 2015?

The US Bar Table Championships in Reno, Nevada. http://forums.azbilliards.com/showthread.php?p=5096134 I don't know what happened between CSI and the Grand Sierra but it was a lot of fun and I know a lot of players in Chico are already disappointed that the 2016 isn't on our calendars YET...

I'm glad they are both ok. In other news, snooker in the U.K. apparently pays better than pool in the U.S.
