An Aussie looking for cue parts retailers .

G'day , wondering if you some of you USA residents can give me the name of cue parts retailers or wholesalers in the USA or elsewhere ? I know of Atlas , Prather and that bozo from Cuecomponents.com (needless to say what I think of him except calling him Bozo is being too polite) , but would...

    AGIS for shaft bushing

or you could leave it in just long enough that it can still be poured out and then lightly retap the thread if your worried you might split the cue when screwing it together ! great idea though , I'll be commiting that one to the ol memory banks !

    314 blanks

that would be why I couldn't see $110 . I do seem to remember Predator releasing "seconds" a while back , pretty sure they were physically perfect but had some cosmetic blemishes . Can anyone confirm this isn't just another false hidden memory of mine  ?

    314 blanks

just looked on Seyberts http://www.seyberts.com/pool_cues/shafts.php?shaft_type_id=2&brand_id=4 and it still says $140 unless I'm missing something - If I am they will be seconds !

what species is it ? Here in Australia we have a local species of wood known as Lemonwood (Dolichandrone heterophylla) , does anyone know what species you guy's are talking about ? I gather it isn't from a Lemon tree but have to ask anyway  Bazz

Interesting show on the Discovery Channel

I've been told that they're very stiff but "lifeless" feeling in the hit , all the resins have been leached away leaving the wood with too little flex . Probably good for jump cue shafts !

    AGIS for shaft bushing

    mmm , Lignum , great stuff :D ! Don't think I'd use it for an insert though ! ;)

    AGIS for shaft bushing

spot on RHNCUE , soft glue in joints is actually usually just poorly mixed epoxy. A mate brought a Yak Hopper jump cue around the other week . The joint pin pulled out and it was just glued in with soft rubbery stuff - ie: poorly mixed epoxy , worse still , it was in an unthreaded , oversized...

    AGIS for shaft bushing

Phenolic taps easy and I'm presuming it threads ok too . Personally I was thinking of the self-centreing type with either a small thread cut on to the base or just a snug fit with a few grooves for the epoxy to grab in to , like the Atlas or Prather s/c inserts. You could also glue the insert in...

    AGIS for shaft bushing

Well that's a lot of Yes's for the phenolic . I'm thinking of making a joint like in the pic I posted but all phenolic except for the actual threaded pin . For this I could use brass or maybe aluminium , not so keen on ally though . I also like the idea of the Aegis for the insert , if only...

    AGIS for shaft bushing

I've tried some soft inserts before CueCrazy , white/opaque nylon I believe , I know what your saying about the feel of the hit with those , that's why the phenolic sounds appealing , maybe some cotton reinforced bakelite I've got , it's very similar to canvas phenolic ! cheers , Bazz.

    AGIS for shaft bushing

Cheers , I do some coring , but mainly on Burls because of the instability . I prefer to get as close to the weight and balance required without coring if possible ! A strong light weight pin and insert (with or without solid full collars as shown in my picture) would allow me to no longer need...

    AGIS for shaft bushing

Interesting idea , I'm looking for an alternative material myself for joiners as the general brass style used on snooker cues these days weigh a little over 2oz . Makes it hard when someone wants an Ebony butt 3/4 joined cue and also wants it under 18oz . I heard Chris Hightower uses phenolic ...

    9x30 metal lathe

thats what I use , best thing about a metal lathe is the other work it can do prepared to a cue lathe . worse thing is it's not setup to start with for cues , you have to do that yourself , worth it if your prepared to do the extra work ! ;)

Is Alex the Best Player Alive?

Put Alex on a 12' snooker table and then see if his "stroke" still holds up before making any statements like that . Ronnie O'sullivan , worlds top snooker player , has the best stroke both left and right handed going around . He can also make 100 breaks either handed . Give him a few years till...

    Is this a Warp?

many Predator shafts have that same slight wobble , just one of the things you have to put with on Pro Tapered cues . If it doesn't effect the play who cares ! :D

    Why hide the jump joint?

then theres no problem , but use a thin one as previously stated , don't want to upset the weight/balance of your cue too much if your already happy with it !
