    For your review, BarBoxRules.com

We absolutely do NOT need "bar box" rules, which are nothing more than one more ridiculous rules set that no one who is any good at playing pool will want to use. We need ONE RULE SET PER GAME. Period. Oh and your website is very demeaning to women.

Is playing in a league really worth it?

Well I think you have nailed the problem right on the pointed APA head. The several hundred members of my BCAPL league don't enjoy it when they feel like their money is being stolen from them. The APA is giving you a horrible return on your money. Wake TF up.

    APA is unfair

It's perfectly fine to try out the APA for a little while then graduate to a real league, like the BCAPL, when you get serious about your game.

Is playing in a league really worth it?

If this is your stated goal then stay away from the APA at all costs. Find a BCAPL league if you want to improve. If you want to get drunk and don't care about your game or whether or not you and your friends are having any fun, then play APA.

I didn't know Ponzi played pool. The Donald Trump of billiard games. And no, I don't mean that in a good way.

FargoRate Top Woman in the World is 679. Why?

Because we are not a communist country that pays people to get good at sports. China is trying to take over the world. Wake up.

Red Master chalk has a slightly smoky flavor, I rate it 8.3 out of 10. Predator chalk sticks to my dental work so I avoid licking those cubes. Kamui chalk pairs well with a crisp Chardonnay.

    Fargo Rate Question

Hey Mark it's Chris. I can see CSI changing a newer player's (newer to Fargo that is) starting rating based on what they see in a Vegas tourney, but not based on league play. If you are using LMS, I think you can go in and change his starter rating back to where you think it should be. I...

I agree with you wholeheartedly. And it doesn't take hours to roll balls. It takes seconds.

How level is "level" for pool tables?

I have seen dozens of bar tables re-felted and every time the slate is lifted up onto two rollers to ease the process and to get underneath the slate to clean the table.

Downgrading equipment to play better in the APA

Yes it is difficult when the establishment does not own the equipment. Vendors are cheap and don't like to spend big bucks on quality cloth. While our league does not "require" bars to use expensive professional cloth, we "highly recommend" it. I also slightly bend the truth and tell bar...

How level is "level" for pool tables?

You are right. Machinists levels are fine. I thought they were, and when I did my math and it showed they weren't, I was confused. I was off by a decimal point. That doesn't detract from my main point in that an inexpensive store-bought level is never good enough to level a table.

How level is "level" for pool tables?

Maybe I am confusing flatness with level here. But in the end, once you have a good slate, it's the level that you are worried about. How did I come up with that? The online specs for the 12" level state 0.005". Since a regulation table is 4.5 times the width of the level, simply multiply...

How level is "level" for pool tables?

You are right, I was off by a decimal point. The WPA specs say "overall flatness within + .020 inches [.508 mm] lengthwise and + .010 inches [.254 mm] across the width" Width of a regulation table is 54". That makes the tolerance angle = arctan(0.1" / 54") = arctan(0.001852) = 0.106 degrees...
