How long have you been playing?

I've had my firsts contacts with a pool table, around 6-7 years old, at my grampa's place. I can't say i was really playing though. Then, i've been playing a few times a year since 6 years. But i've got serious about it since 6 months (maybe 7) I got my cue, i took a few of lessons, and i...

Choking on the 9ball - why?

Thanks to everyone for your tips. I've been playing last night with my pal. We met a A player who wanted to practice with us. He gave us tips, showed us some exercises, and stuff. One other thing : I used to always try the shots, i didn't use to think about making a safety shot (not often...

Choking on the 9ball - why?

I realized that I choke really often on the 9ball (on the 9ball game). This is probably the worst thing to do... i often make a beautifull run... 6-7-8, i control my CB pretty well, i get set for the next shot, and i make the shot on the 9 an easy one, but i miss it in like 95% of the time... I...

    Sinking the 8 early

I don't think that rule is illogical. The rule is if you sink the 8 before all your balls, you lose... this rule stands for the whole game... i mean, not only after having sink like 3 or 4 of our balls... But i know what you mean... i just don't think we should change that rule.

    The DUMBEST bar rules.....GO...

Yeah, i've seen that jumpshot video before. I used to jump like that too, when i was not a pool player.

    The DUMBEST bar rules.....GO...

I was playing a guy in a bar, we were playin' 9ball... Actually, he came to ma saying : you wanna play for some cash? 5$ ? I said : allright, 9ball? he said : yeah, whatever, anything. You know how to play 9ball? No, but i'll learn. I thought : he might be a hustler. I told him the rules...

    Sinking the 8 early

I don't agree on changing any rule. I think rules are pretty good like they are. And sinking the 8 soon in the game should remain as a lose for this player. You have to increase your skills to get more control of the balls instead of changing rules to advantage you. It's like if we said in...

Let me know when u'll be around Montreal area. We could shoot some pool together :) and about the rate, what's yours? For how long have you been in the FQSB? (i think i should have said : from Pronvince of Quebec, hey? instead of "from THE province of Quebec?!) lol

    What is you playing cue?

I actually play with a Steve Mizerak cue, do you guys know these? It's a marble 19oz. cue. It's my first cue, i didn't really know much about pool cues before, but it seems to be a real good cue. My instructor tried it a bit and told me it was perfect, also, a AA player played a bit with it...

    your weaknesses

As i wrote elsewhere, i have to work on my attitude (i think i did progess, but there is still a bit of work to do). what else?... much of things, like i'd say are pretty much the same for lots of players. Pool is hard, and to me, easy shots are very rare. Even if a shot looks easy, it's not...

How many cues have you smashed? Discussion inside!

Hahaha.... Never broke my cue, (the 1st I own, and the only one) I have it since 6 months, never broke it, but some times, there isn't much to stop me from wanting to.. haha

Problem with distance on cut shots

Sorry if I'm boring, but only one word... Practice... it's a good thing that you noticed a weak point, so you can redo that shot over and over to get it. Try those with projection (throw) and deflection (squirt -harder). You'll realize that the aiming point is changing depending of the...

Dumbest thing you ever done. (pool related)

one of the dumiest things i've ever made at pool was... i was playing a race to 9 with a good pool pal of mine. I was leadig 8-7. My turn, i gotta play the 9 ball which is on the edge of the hole. The cue ball is at the other side of the table, next to the rail, maybe an inch from it. It was...

    Gambling...

I only played money a couple of times and it was little amounts. Actually, the 1st time, was a race to 4 (9ball) for 20$. I was playing alone when a guy came to me and ask me to play. I had no clue of how he was playing never saw him before. I know that was really risky, but i took the...

    Target Pool

I like practicing with the target pool game. I really feel it's usefull to increase my skills. And it's good that you can make harder exercises to get to a higher level. Great game, usefull. It happens quite often in games that i recognise a shot i had to make for a target-pool exercise, so...

    bad playing

I used to say that i had good days and bad days. Untill one time, one night i played very bad, i totally sucked. I was affraid 'cause the day after i was supposed to go into a little local tournement (organized by the local poolhall). The next morning, the day of the tournement, i said to...

Color of Money on AMC right now

"On the snap, Vincent!" Yeah, I like that movie! Have you seen "The Hustler" ? I wouldn't say that "Color of money" is the sequel from "The Hustler" but, there's obviously links between these movies. Actually, Paul Newman's character is the same. We can see him, as Fast Eddie, older and...
