Real Road Player Sponsored by USPS!

So I have a cue being shipped from Georgia by USPS to me in Florida. The cue is currently in Chicago. I should have got on my Harley and went to pick it up. The cue is on the road without me. Must be a great player.

    Vintage APA cue flyers

It's a Mali. For sure. APA cues range from cheap China or Taiwan made cues to US made cues. This is a good one IMHO. I missed one recently. It may have been that one. In fact, I really think it was. Wondering what the case is. Might be worth as much as the cue, or more. Good luck finding...

Best way to ship a high end cue

You know, that's funny. I once bought a cue and the seller went to one of those packing/shipping stores. It was one of the worst cue packing examples I have ever seen. And they paid for it!

    AZ members that make cues......?????

There is a subforum in the gallery, but I don't know of a list. I think a lot of them don't want or need to be on a list. Every once in a while I see someone post a cue they made, and I have seen that person post for some time but never knew they made cues. Every once in a while I am stunned...

    Assembling A joint thoughts

Yes, I have seen that. And Joss did a long time ago. I am wondering if anybody has ever used any kind of expanding tenon or expanding "fingers" in a cue. Might be a lot of effort for little or no advantage. But mechanical joinery surely is better than just adhesives. No? For example...

Does the type of joint really affect the value of a cue that much?

Nice looking cue for the money. It's not a numbered Helmstetter, not an "R.C.H." cue Basically, an Adam. Both the butt and shaft are warped. How bad? No way to tell until you have it. The seller said of the butt: "Slightly floppy warping". OK. You can take a chance on that and might...

Best way to ship a high end cue

Yup! They roll! Tube in a box, triangle best, square second best. Ship in a case some say? Maybe. But a really sturdy case has value too, and just adds to the insured value and hence potential cost and risk. I wouldn't trust many (most?) cheap cases, I think I can pack a cue much safer...

Does the type of joint really affect the value of a cue that much?

The early 2000's were yesterday. That isn't really "a long time ago". They are just used cues. Show me. I am curious. What is "really nice" and what is "old" in this context?

So having a few cues build......should I take a loupe to it?

Key word is "try". True perfection is not achievable, and is actually relative.

Yeah, we were not talking about new Joss cues. ;) I don't buy any of those. I wouldn't pass up a bargain though.

Does the type of joint really affect the value of a cue that much?

I guess the old saying holds true. The more things change the more they stay the same. "Brainwashing". Yeah. One person's brainwashing is a another person's marketing. Yes, as the skill increases, the cue matters less. But the masses will remain nowhere near the highest skill level...

    Assembling A joint thoughts

I just came across this and was reminded of the finger joints I have seen in some cues.
