    My new Inlay Machine

I bought the Gecko 540 with the control box prebuilt with a power supply and switches from Deepgroove1.com. I popped the cover off before I set it up. Very pleased with the wiring. All the wire to spade solder joints had the spades fully covered with solder.

    My new Inlay Machine

Since I started this 3 months ago I have $1970 in the machine itself including the control box, motors, spin indexes, all tooling, and (20) precise bit cutters. I bought the dedicated computer used, and I bought a used legal seat of Bobcad for half price. With the Mach3 I have another $770 in...

    My new Inlay Machine

The spindle is a 12V Wolfgang. To power it I bought a Pyramid voltage supply that my monitor is sitting on top of. They are very popular to convert a car radio or CB to AC use. Kind of overkill for this but the directions with the Wolgang said I may see spikes of high amperage. The needle...

    My new Inlay Machine

I'll probably end up with a sherline index with a 3-jaw once I jump. My Y has 4.5" of travel. If I remove the end gussets that I added for support, my Y is 9". I'm not sure they were needed but it did really solid things up. Z is 4".

    My new Inlay Machine

Just under 31" between centers on my X travel. My spin indexes and flat stock tooling are all mounted to a 44" long dovetail. I can move them anywhere I want. I plan on adding a 4th axis rotary down the road. Anyone have one for sale?

    My new Inlay Machine

I'm using Bobcad 23 to make the program, and Mach3 to run the Gecko control. Let me add by saying that since I'm a novice maker I don't have a lot to share with this forum. If any cue maker has a sketch they would like a cad file of, I will do it for no charge. I've been drawing in multiple...

    My new Inlay Machine

I'd like to say thanks to all the fine threads that are on here if you do some digging. I’d also like to give a big THANKS to Mc2, Tony Z., Dick N., & Jerry E. Without their advice I could never have taken this from concept to reality. Here’s a 30 second video on my website...

    A dream & a goal

Dream + Ambition = Goal Ambition is being able to put your dream logo on your work shirt. 20 years ago I bought my first Black Heart cue. 10 years ago I had a dream. Today I have a goal.

    Ferrule tennon threads

I like to stop about 1/16" shy of the shoulder, come in with a box cutter and scrape any wax off the end of the die, then finish the thread to the shoulder. That way I'm not mashing any wax into the shoulder.

    CA versus auto finish

Dang I never thought of that one! Fireproof exhaust, check. Fireproof lighting, check. Wear my mask while mixing, woops. I don't even snap my fan on till I'm spraying. I will now.

    CA versus auto finish

I tried CA on a about a half dozen of my earlier cues but it seemed like a lot more work. I was very happy with the results though. I'm hooked on auto clear now. Once I built a 3 cue turning rack and a "non-legal" spray booth with an explosion proof light and fan I haven't tried anything else.

    Power supply

Thanks guys. I was leaning toward this one with the built in amp meter but I'm confused on the output voltage. The add says 12 but the specs say 13.8? I'm afraid the 13.8 may hurt the motor I have. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=350352200750&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT
