A dream & a goal

I think so. I set goals everyday of what I need to accomplish. Any time left once the goals are met is spent working on my "special" projects.

My dream is to make it to the ACA Hall of Fame.

I think of it as a ladder. Each rung is a goal used to obtain the dream.

I thoroughly agree with your explanation........tap tap

There is a big difference. Those who know that can often accomplish things that they may have only dreamed about. The happiest and often the most frustrated individuals are those who allow their dreams to become their goals. Some are dreamers with out goals and they accomplish very little. Some have goals and no dreams and also accomplish very little, but usually accomplish more than those who only dream. Some have realistic short term goals that are working toward their dream and their dream is also a goal. If they have realistic dreams and have patience they tend to be happy people. Those who have very unrealistic dreams and have very little patience are very unhappy people.

This I agree with. Goals can just be series of tiny steps toward obtaining one's dream. I may never Live long enough to obtain all of My Dreams, but I can meet several goals in a week or even in a day depending on how I set Them for Myself. Today for example I woke up, opened My eyes, and took a breath of air. It was a good day:wink:

Dream v. Goal

Hi,

Dreams are one's visualization on attaining the goal. In order to achieve a goal you must believe and see yourself attaining it for it to be realized.

People who do not succeed lose track and do not set priorities correctly.

Most dreams require other people and entities to share your objectives in order to work. This is where salesmanship factors in. The most successful people are always the people who communicate and cause the infection of success.

The difference btwn dreams and goals is motivation and money.
The dreaming is easy and usually free. The goal, not so much.

I have a goal to finish an MBA in May and hopefully land a job as an energy marketer with my company. I have a dream to win the powerball and not work at all:grin:

I agree those gentlemen, i just want also to add that they have also in common, both will take time to accomplish and both are not easy to succeed without discipline and determination of the proponents.

Dream + Ambition = Goal

Ambition is being able to put your dream logo on your work shirt.

20 years ago I bought my first Black Heart cue. 10 years ago I had a dream. Today I have a goal.

KJ is right, dreams don't cost anything until you are determined enuff to set them into reality. Then you have long term goals that require you to temper your dream into smaller steps that are more easily managed.

Goals can be daily, weekly, monthly, as long as you have a plan. Thats when determination, sacrifice and also unfortunately money (most times) come into play.

I like to think of my goals as small stepping stones in a rock garden.

A couple or three years ago, I found this forum. I thought, what better way is there to express my love of working with wood than to try my hand at building cues. I devoured every thread and post I could find, copying and pasting into my own personal library. Of course I bought Chris's book, DVD's and a couple of lathes. A ton of wood, equipment and also every little doo dad I could find.

Am I a cue maker yet? No where close, but with every different job I do on some one elses cue, that allows me to take one more step toward my dream.

I thnk there is a real difference between a dream & a goal...JER

I see your point, but I also think that by setting goals and sticking with them until we achieve our goals we can make our dreams come true, I kinda think they go hand in hand.
