IMHO I would think the rationale behind the decision to let it out, and whether you are comfortable with it is most important. Or are you just uncomfortable with the idea that it was let out despite being 'imperfect'? I have a cue with such a blemish – it was hidden amongst a sea of birds eyes...

Mezz = good eg. of demanding Jap QC standards. Even the 'worst hitting' Mezz is pretty decent; materials and workmanship are top-notch. You'd be hard pressed to find a lemon. Haven't tried a schon in a long while, so can't comment... but back then they had a really nice, unmistakable hard hit...
