Lou Butera Passed Away this Morning :(

This is really sad news, he was a very nice guy. I was playing him in a tournament and I was having trouble with my cue. I was looking through my case for some sandpaper. He pulls out his money and folded in with his money was small squares of sandpaper. He gave me a piece of 1000 paper. I...

What cue weight do you play with?

I am curious how many have experimented with cue weights. Do you now play with a heavier or lighter cue then you once did? Did it make any noticeable difference in your game one way or the other.

a question for serious...or shall i say higher level players

Assuming you have done much of what is mentioned in other responses such as practice, doing drills and so on. At a point you have to graduate to a higher level of play and players. You have to get away from where you are and move on from grammar school to high school and on to collage in terms...

    my magic chalk review

I actually thought about that, not being able to get it. Maybe I can buy a small stock of it and vacuum pack it or something. I don't know if chalk can go bad over time. It would not be the first time I liked something then all of a sudden could not get it anymore.

    Unknown cue

It kind of screams hobbyist. Could be made by any one of the thousands of guys with a lathe. It is an SP and they experimented with a butt sleeve and two sort of out of place rings that do match anything. jmo.

    Arnot cues??

Have not heard about them for a long time. Is he still around? I know he was maybe the first cuemaker to find a market on the internet, he sold a lot of cues at one time. Just curious.

Ok I'm old but where did good luck go

I don't say good luck to my opponent or much of anything for that matter, I never have. In a tournament I will shake hands but that is the last interaction I will have with them. I don't say good shot, tap my cue or anything. I just wait my turn.

    usps loses your stuff

Just happened to me last week. Says delivered , customer says they never got it. This was a $1200.00 package. I go to the post office where I sent it and had them check the tracking. They can actually see more then you can. They see it says delivered also. They give me a phone number at the...

my new grizzly 13 by 40 dro

Wow, that is quite a purchase for not knowing anything about it. Do you have a friend who can help you set it up and check it out? They are not always perfect right out of the box. You will also need to install an outboard chuck. It may take a little ingenuity to see how you can do it but it...

Judging other players speed. Staying out of bad games.

If I am watching a guy, I am not watching the balls, I am watching him. Good players have a certain hand eye coordination that takes years to develop. It is also hard to hide, I don't care if he is hitting balls into the rail. You can look at some guys and you just say to your self, "This guy...

    HeadStock throughbore size

Out of curiosity, what is the practicaly of boring out a head stock? Has any one ever done it?

    HeadStock throughbore size

The answer is yes, you can build cues with a smaller bore as long as the lathe is long enough. You will have to be a little more clever and use some ingenuity making jigs and set-ups to get the jobs done. If you get a chance to pick up a used lathe at a good price that is long enough do it...

Anyone play 3C and other games well here?

If you played with an optional cueball on the first shot in 3-C many people would average pretty good. There is a lot of safety play in 3-C and it really degrades averages. We used to play a gambling game in 3-C where you could use either cue ball on the first shot but if you made a billiard...

    Got my Magic chalk, review

This is not really a review just a few comments about my experience with the chalk. It is by far the best chalk I have ever used and I am old, it's really amazing. I have played for hours without a miscue but more then that. I have a surge in confidence on certain shots. Long draw shots in...

    Winning One Pocket

It is nicely done with a lot of pictures of players. You are not going to become a master one pocket player from the book. I paid like $49.00 for mine from Eddie. I made the mistake of taking it to the pool room because someone wanted to see it. It was immediately stolen. I should have known...

Who do you let play with your cue?

I don't actually let anyone shoot with my cue. I am sorry if they are offended if they ask and I say no, they should know better then to ask. That is not to say I would not let someone hit some balls with my cue, but borrowing it to play, "NO".

OWNING ivory might be a crime now?

That looks like a fund raising letter and from what I read it is not even true. You can read the proposed law. There seems to be an amendment in it that addresses the issue owning items that already have ivory in them. I don't see why it would not be covered Ex Post Facto...
