8 BALL - A true test for world class players?

I know this post is a little late... This is just my opinion and I know it doesn't mean much and might not make any sense. I like 8 ball as a game in general and just found a new respect for it. Only because in 9ball or 10ball...someone will make a mistake not always but it always happens. In...

    Shorter stroke?

My knowledge doesnt compare with that of those on the forum but when I took lessons from a local pro he tried to get my birdge hand 4-5 inches away from the cue ball with a very definitive pause on my final stroke. I was very used to the bridge I was using which maybe long to some but I was...

A quick question...I play alot, can I do more than 50 racks or do 50 racks a few times not only to try to better my score but maybe we...

    I need opinions....

Thanks Scott. I have read a lot of your posts and are always helpful no matter the subject. The jerico does jump well and Im happy with it full cue and breaking it down. Its just missing something. Thanks again. I appreciate the case recommendation, I bought a 3 x 6 a few weeks back from an...

    I need opinions....

Over the past few months 9 ball has become the game of choice with 1 pocket right behind it even though I am not that great at one pocket. Anyways...I have a Jerico Thumper(Sneaky Pete version of Stinger) and I really like the way it breaks for 8 ball. For 9 ball I like a more controlled break...

    Joint, shaft or butt?

I played with a Mooch for 2 years with a black dot shaft and enjoyed it until I hit with the cue I have now...flat faced phenolic 3/8-10 pin. The Mooch I played with a triangle tip now I play moori's. Its all preference but I sold my Mooch and will never play with one again as long as I can...

man the dart jumping technique is deadly!

I have a Jerico Thumper that doesn't have the same tip radius as when I bought it new...I thank Mr. Searing for shaping it. I usually jump full cue unless it is a pretty close jump. Then I use what I guess is called the pendulum stroke. It works for me...I pocket balls and control the rock...

    Cue joint questions?

I believe a cue has only so much to do with english, but I believe the best way to muve the cueball around the table is to stroke the ball. Stroke is the key to pool...IMHO, FWIW

    What's your personal preference?

I prefer the hit of flat face phenolic, 3/8-10 pin, I like around a 12.5mm shaft, a lil thicker works, not to much either way really...moori mediums. I like it pretty light, my cue prolly ways >18.5 oz. and 59 inches

    How do you chalk up?

the way I chalk is hard to explain...chalk starts out with a hole, mind ends up flat I will have to take a picture of it to show everyone...Im kind of curious if this thread was started because of me. I dont think I chalk too hard as my tips stay in shape not flatten out. the shaft gets wrapped...

    Tips? what advantage

I have tried a few different tips. LePro, Elkmaster, Triangle, Everest, and Moori Med and Hard. I just recently stopped playing with a Meucci that I used a few different tips on. LePro, Elkmaster, and Triangle, the lepros were nice when I had no clue what I was doing, I was young and liked to...

What do you do with your Chalk when Playing

I have really bad chalking habits, I use my own chalk, I buy my own chalk, I used to use Triangle, now I use Master's. I dont chalk like normal people, if I am thinking about a shot, chalk is more often then not being applied to my tip, my hands are usually blue by the end of the night, and...

    Bunjee Blaster

I had a Bunjee Blaster with the 2 piece tip/ferrule. Bought it just before I went to Vegas in May and while in Vegas my buddy blew the tip off. I had a repair guy shape the ferrule and it plays just good if not better without worrying about something breaking. I bought a Jerico Thumper and plan...

    Heart?

I cant pick out a handful of players who have heart. Of all the names listed and not listed but players recognized by so many as professionals. It takes heart to play this game, the constant plateuing(sp?) of skill, being able to think you are the best and nobody can touch when infact there has...

    Buying First Cue

I think your best bet would be lucasi. I started out with one, I have owned 3 and still own one, I suggest a new tip after purchase as the standard tip isnt the greatest ever, a nice triangle should make the cue play a bit better IMO. A mid range lucasi and a case should no problem in your price...
