I agree with this wholeheartedly; that is the real question of interest. The annoying part is that the tools needed to determine what really happens have been around for over 40 years. Almost any decent Biomechanics department will have somebody with the tools needed to record, analyze, and...

I don't think so, either. In fact, I have no real disagreement with anything in that post.

    Buddy Hall Update

Hmmm... the French eat a lot of rye bread. Of course, it's sourdough rye. Maybe that makes a difference?

It's clearer on the shot at about 3:16. It's about as far and slightly faster than Stevie Moore's demo shot on the DVD at the very end of Chapter 6. It occurs just as his bridge hand stops moving, right before the beginning of his first practice stroke. No, you have not, neither here nor in...

Now that's interesting. Ekker says he pivots. In his "part 1" video, starting about 1:30, there's a series of shots that clearly show him pivoting. The only reasoning I can see that would make him not a "pivoter" would have to go something like: "Pivoting doesn't work. If a person is successful...

Well, the more I thought about it, and given the context, the more I thought maybe you'd really meant "ziegen" and I just hadn't parsed the sentence correctly (which I find really easy to screw up with German).

Room size for a 9 ft Brunswick Goldcrown

The problem with that chart - which every pool table peddler swears is gospel - is that it's put out by the table peddlers; their interests are different from yours. A 4.5x9 in a room that's 18'4"x14'6" does not make for comfortable play. You may have to put up with it, but I guarantee you won't...

Room size for a 9 ft Brunswick Goldcrown

For many (perhaps most) shots, your furthest rearward foot is beyond the butt of the cue on the back stroke. When playing from an end of the table, placement of your feet is likely to be as much or more of a problem as is the available stroke distance.

New Paypal Alternative - Serve By American Express

That argument is specious. I know of no legal problems incurred by any of the web based firearms auction sites (e.g., Auction Arms, Guns America). That argument would not apply to PayPal in any case, nor does EBay use that argument as it might relate to EBay itself. According to Omidyar, EBay is...

    PRO ONE DVD: Answering Questions

I think there's a fairly simple test that could be made. It takes two people and a piece of cardboard. One of the people needs (I think) to be well-versed in Stan's manual CTE and very comfortable with the system. The other needs good reaction times. Set up a shot. When the shooter feels they...

Er... I think maybe you meant "zeigen". Or maybe not.

Well, ok. But it seems to me there's a good deal of difference between those two statements. It's like saying "Perfect sight alignment doesn't help you at 1000 meters if the wind's gusting from 0 to 20 knots." and then saying "If you want to purely test a shooter's aiming ability, it should...

    PRO ONE DVD: Answering Questions

That's absolutely excellent. Keeps the Greek flavor, and deals with the motion of bodies in space, which could apply to both the player's motions during alignment, and to the motions of the balls. I came up with "kulečník" but the meaning is a little off, and "kinematics" is vastly better.

Why not? Are you saying that, e.g., visualizing the ghost ball doesn't help you when the cue ball is on the rail?

I think this (and the rest of the post, for that matter) is exactly correct. What's really unfortunate is that there isn't enough money involved to interest, say, Ariel Dynamics (Gideon Ariel). They (and some of their competitors, and nowadays probably quite a few university kinesiology...

New Paypal Alternative - Serve By American Express

That's not just an opinion, it's a fact. Not only can you not sell anything on E-bay that's gun related, you cannot use Pay Pal to pay for such items no matter who is selling them. The penalty for a seller who violates that rule is to have their account permanently closed.

    PRO ONE DVD: Answering Questions

Sure it is. In the end, all aiming is some version of ghostball. The only difference between them is how you find the thing. Do you remember which thread? I missed it, and would be quite interested in reading it.
