    Non-Gambling Pool Players

When I was younger, after a while I learned that I really didn't enjoy taking someone's money. I hated losing my own..... It was a lose/lose so I stopped. Now, after many decades I think I see it a little differently.... but still kind of the same. ;-) td

A conversation with Anthony Meglino: The best player many people have never heard of...

I had never heard of, nor seen him before and I pay at least minimal attention. Cudos to him for what I'm sure is a lifetime achievement goal, and he should be proud! Sure hope I wouldn't be dissed for whatever I may have done, or not done when I was a kid... on line. sheesh td

Keith McCready got money from his dad to play money games against his dad. Unethical?

Thank you for the short bio. I just have to say..... JAM, I hope someday I get the pleasure of meeting you both. Although it is improbable. Consider me a fan of the both of you. Best wishes for the new year. td

Turning wrist inwards during stroke. Need advice.

I've found that this is helpful, so I press the tips of my thumb and index finger together. That makes a wider loop than the handle, and allows me to use primarily the middle two fingers. For some reason it helps to lock out the wrist twist for me. td

    Pool and drink

For those of us who suffer from an essential tremor, alcohol mitigates that condition quite effectively. When stress is very high, the symptoms of a tremor while playing can be debilitating. There are prescription drugs people use for this as well. Obviously, alcohol affects different people...

Mighty x drill leaving mark on cloth

Years ago, when trying JoeyA's 'power stroke drill' I wore bad tracks into the cloth and eventually just had to replace the cloth..... AND the cueball. lol I would say, variability is the answer. JMHO td

Best Pool Game for Seniors - 1 Pocket or 14.1?

It really depends on the disparity of players as much or more than whether or not anyone is a senior IMO. I would suggest this (1/15) as well.... Almost entirely unheard of outside of the senior circuit. At least I had never heard of it until I started visiting a nearby senior center, and am...

Which Way Do You Play This Shot?

I was only providing a reason to support those who liked that shot better. I had just finished practicing that very shot a few days earlier (for fun) for an hour or so... and had found it to be quite repeatable in my results as to hitting spots. Personally, I would play the draw 2 rails and...

Which Way Do You Play This Shot?

If you know the shot, there's absolutely NO risk of ending up behind the 5..... just depends on what you want with the 3. Just sayin.... ;-) td

Need Advice Regarding Tip Size / Diameter

I've played with multiple sizes over the years (decades) from sub 11 mm to over 13 mm. Everything has its' pro's and cons. Certain games may advantage one size slightly over another.... but I doubt few under an advanced intermediate would appreciate the difference. JMHO td

Would you do this ring swap? If so, how would you go about it?

I've played pool for many decades, but know little to none about cue construction, and what you said here sounds like greek to me. :) I'm just looking for someone to repair a used shaft (ferrule), and possibly make a new one (or two). With one for 3c, and maybe one for snooker or possible...

Need Advice Regarding Tip Size / Diameter

Stick with what you've got, if it feels comfortable to you, until it limits you in whatever shots you may need to use (which will probably be never). JMHO Good luck, and keep practicing and having fun! td
