Would you do this ring swap? If so, how would you go about it?

I have had many shafts re shafted by cutting it down to a workable 5 or 6 inch shaft then machining at the top of the ring inward and turning a tenon that was then glued in to a new shaft turned down to match the ring diameter and they have all turned out fantastic.
I've played pool for many decades, but know little to none about cue construction, and what you said here
sounds like greek to me. :)

I'm just looking for someone to repair a used shaft (ferrule), and possibly make a new one (or two). With one
for 3c, and maybe one for snooker or possible kielwood. No well known cue makers here in AZ anymore that I have heard of. Maybe
rings aren't that hard to make.... but with 3 old shafts sitting around I just thought it was worth checking into.

Not sure it's been said lately but you sir, Mr. Michael Webb, are a TREMENDOUS ASSET to this forum ! I'm sure your time and expertise are greatly appreciated by MANY. I look forward to all your wisdom and I'm not a cuemaker !

MW helped me with a small (but important to me) shaft insert replacement. It was a project but knew I had proper support. The repair was for a friend. He loved it. Thanks Mike 👍

It's just a simple way to replace a shaft using the original ring work

I actually thought of you on my last mezz shaft conversion. And strange eneogh, to fit a Sawdust Butt.
Sawdust sent the customer finished ringwork off two shafts. So I had to make a cup to hold them so I could bore them out. Because of the size of the Mezz united insert body, I used a 9/16x12 phenolic insert.

Hope this helps
Hi Mike, one question in mind, how did u sand down the finish of the shaft without risking sanding off the Expro logo
thanks
