    Ball temperature

I said that in theory it has an effect, just like anything. Measure something precise enough and almost anything will start to cause effects. But then I also said that practically it doesn't matter, as in, it shouldn't be considered at all for your pool game. What do you disagree with?

    Ball temperature

In theory, either by the temperature being extreme or the measurement being extremely precise, yes. Practically speaking, no. Humidity affects the table, and temperature and humidity are often related, but that's not directly temperature causing the differences.

    Italian Open

Funny how it goes both ways, I much prefer to watch slower (pro) players. More time to think about the table and what I'd do without having to pause so much. I don't get anything out of the outcomes of the matches 99% of the time, but it's a fun excercise to compare own shot selections to the...

    Which Way? Low Or Left?

Depends on table conditions, pocket size, current confidence, etc. But most commonly with just low, no side. Slightly fuller angle and might go for a stun shot with left. Bottom left not for me, that's a more touchy shot than the others, although move the balls around a bit and it becomes the...

    GOAT Hunt

The entire forums are a waste of time. That's what we are here for, it's a fun way to waste it. And yeah Filler & Gorst will be #1 and #2 on the list in 10-15 years most likely.

2025 AZB Ghost Challenge - Official Thread

This shouldn't be added to the aggregate table, as the numbers aren't exact, but just throwing it here for a bit more data points off the charts. Been playing 9-ball ghost scotch doubles for a while with a friend of equal skill. We've done lots of short races of varying lengths, but the overall...

Match probability calculator, given Fargo ratings

On the site it says "Hover on the heatmap to see winning odds. (You can zoom in for more detail)". The heat map is a grid containing all the possible combinations of different frame amounts you and your opponent race to, showing the likelihood of winning for each side. For your case of 5-9...

Match probability calculator, given Fargo ratings

The issue with your logic is that you are saying the ghost can't possibly be perfect (1.000 TPA) with only 740 fargo, which would indeed be faulty if the rules were that the ghost always broke and therefore had an infinite series of break-and-runs. But the definition of the ghost is that the...

Using whole cue ball for position play? Wrong or right?

Sufficient for perfect position play? No. A good baseline that helps accelerate learning by getting more reps of same tip position instead of multiple slightly different ones? Absolutely. Think of it like this; there's often multiple tip position/speed combinations that give you roughly the...

    Stroke target

My approach is to focus during the stroke on nothing else moving than my stroke arm. During my PSR I have payed great attention to obtaining a steady and relaxed stance such that it's as effortless as possible to stay still. Staying still is consciously measured by the field of vision not moving...

    Cue sports strengths by country

Many "useless" things are just fun to know for some people, especially when they are related to your interests, in this case, pool. I think most people who find this an interesting read don't do so for any usefulness or external purpose, it's just interesting and therefore fun (for some) for...

2025 AZB Ghost Challenge - Official Thread

Living up to your 764 fargo, statistically 6th best Finnish player  Congrats! Also happened to watch some of the final match.

    Simple aiming system

Simple question: Does this drawing illustrate the system as you just stated it? If so, how come the 2 ball is not going towards the pocket from that line? If the drawing is misunderstanding your system, how does it need to be fixed?

    No excuses

Not only that, they are one of the most effective/simple ways of getting feedback for your technique. Missing a cut shot can be due to a faulty aim and you won't necessarily know which reason caused the miss (aim or technique). Your feedback from straight shot misses are much more effective when...

Repeated straight in shots are anything but pointless.

    Slowest pro players?

Why? You can be deliberate without being painfully slow. If someone uses the word deliberate to refer to a painfully slow player, being deliberate isn't the issue.

2025 AZB Ghost Challenge - Official Thread

By calculating the ratio between won and lost frames. For example, if you had a fargo of 700, played 200 sets with the 9-ball ghost, won 100 and lost 100, the 9-ball ghost's fargo on your table/conditions would be estimated to be 700. Fargo's math works such that the better player is twice more...

    Eye alignment.............

What I'm saying is that isn't this information already deducted automatically from the ball positions relative to the table? Just from a quick glance your brain senses the positions by sensing their spatial relationship to the cushions and you will then know the distances as well.
  20. Oikawa

    Eye alignment.............

Yes, and because I'm very right eye dominant it doesn't make a difference for me as I always utilize the image from one eye only in my alignment/aiming, but that's besides the point. What you were talking about was perception of the pocket's relationship to the OB, which is a different thing...
