    sledgehammer II

Aside from improved cosmetics, are there any significant changes in the Sledgehammer II from the original?

    ivory ferrule question

I think I read somewhere that a buffer or pad of some sort is sometimes placed between an ivory ferrule and the cue tip--to create a cushion, I assume. I need to have a tip replaced on a shaft with an ivory ferrule and would appreciate any guidance on this. Thanks.

    eyeglasses and stance

I wear eyeglasses, and I've pretty much concluded that an upright stance works much better for me than a low one--maybe because of the distortion caused by trying to look through the lenses at an angle with a low stance. Has anyone else had the same experience?

    eye dominance & unintended english

I've been curious about the relationship between eye dominance and the way one perceives his relationship to the cue ball. I'm left-handed and left-eye dominant. When it looks to me as though I'm centered over the cue ball, turns out that my left eye is over it. I assume that's what...

    Cue Club Table #7

I just got back from 4 days in Vegas--spent a couple hours one afternoon at the Cue Club. The table I ended up with was a piece of garbage--maybe because I wasn't a regular and didn't have a cue with me. I played the next day at Pool Sharks and had a much better experience.

    Eyeglasses

Are there special lenses that work for someone who ordinarily wears bifocals? I'm thinking maybe single-vision lenses calibrated for 1-9 feet, if such a thing exists. Also, is there a source for these sorts of glasses? Thanks.

    Philly Rooms

I'm going to be in Phila for a few days next month. Any suggestions on places to play? Downtown would be preferable, but I'll have a car so the burbs would work if necessary. Thanks.

    basavich bashing?

Slow Play I watched both Basavich and Archer play last night at Valley Forge. Archer generally took much longer between shots than Basavich. At one point, Archer took what I'll bet was an honest 5 minutes before jumping over two balls and making the object ball cross-corner--one of the best...

    Aramith Cue Balls

Is the "logo" cue ball that comes with the Super Aramith Pro ball set the same ball as the red circle? Also, I think Aramith makes a red dot ball; where does that fit in, quality-wise? Thanks.

    DC area instructor

I have a chronic problem with my stance and getting properly in line. I've tried all kinds of approaches (including both standard and snooker stances), but I can't seem to get it right on my own. Can anyone recommend someone in the DC area who can help? Thanks.

    Sledgehammer Tip

I've noticed that some players have ground down the tips of their Sledgehammers flat, presumably to reduce miscues. I'm thinking of doing the same thing. Is it a good idea, can I do it myself, and what sort of equipment would I need? (That phenolic tip is awfully hard.) Thanks.

    Hub Cue

So it was a 3-piece cue? What was the point of that, and what does the name "hub" come from? Thanks.

    Hub Cue

I keep seeing references to hub cues, or hub-style cues? Could someone explain what this means to a relative newbie? Thanks.

    vegas rooms

I'm staying on the strip and won't have a car. My evenings may be tied up, so I'm mainly looking for a good place to play if I get some free time during the day.

    Whitten Case Q's

I have a Whitten (63-A) case on order. I've looked at the instructions on their website about installing the spacers, but am wondering whether there are any particular tricks to installation. Also, is there a preference for which way the shafts go in? Thanks.

Anyone notice that Pool stuff on E-bay

Ebay scams I was recently the unsuccessful bidder on a cue and had at least two people try to scam me with a notice that the high bidder had defaulted and I could buy the cue for my bid.

    DC Rooms

Anyone know any good rooms in DC that are open during the day on weekdays? The only one I know is Fast Eddie's on K St., and it only has 8-foot tables. Thanks.

    Wrist Snap

I know that a snap of the wrist is frequently used in draw shots, but I understand that some players use it for virtually all their shots. Is that so? What's the benefit? Thanks.

    No. VA Rooms

I'm looking for suggestions for good rooms in Northern VA. I used to play a lot at Breakers in Herndon, which sadly is now closed. The other places I'm familiar with are First Break in Sterling (excellent) and Fast Eddie's (aka the Shark Club) in Centreville (didn't maintain its tables very...
