    Thinking about using Velocity Pro

I just installed a table in a highrise today. This is the 3rd pool table we have put into this place. One pool table is used constantly. We average replacing Simonis felt on it 3times a year. And when we do replace their felt it is pretty much unplayable. But today on the new table we...

One Pocket - Youths' Trojan Horse

I love onepocket and I'm 22. Now here in Atlanta there is a 1pocket tournement every wednesday night that averages 20-30 people. It draws out the big dogs too. You'll even see Cliff Joyner play in it. But you'll also see Paul Song, Alice Rim, and other various younger under 50 individuals...

    Thinking about using Velocity Pro

Our shop has been using it since it came out. It's a little stretchier than Simonis but not by much. I've never played on it except for throwing balls around it on the table when I finished a job. I say it rolls about the same as Simonis. With the price break in it I'd say go for it and give...

    which table to buy

That is a good looking Centenial. Last time I worked on one that nice it was for some gay couple in Atlanta who didn't give a damn about pool. (I'm sure they liked the Sticks, Balls, Butts, Holes part of pool). But it was beautiful. Another table I like that I think is the most beautiful...

Is "pattern" racking cheating in 9 ball?

I don't really pay attention to rack order. But I do have a habit in 9ball of putting the 1 and 9 in their locations. But also putting the 8ball in the back of the rack. In full triangle games such as 1pocket, 8ball, 14.1, etc I put the 1 in front always. I guess I consider it a consistancy.

What cloth is on your tables?

I like Simonis for playing. I just like the speed of it and how it feels. Tour Edition is smoking fast. And if you spray silicon or some kind of a waterproofer you will have Brunswick Centenial. But there is a new cloth out now that I believe is made by CL Bailey or Level Best. It feels...

    which table to buy

Brunswick Centenials are pretty nice. But I think more than a few hundred were made. Many pool halls have them. From what I have seen in them there isn't much difference between the 2 structurally wise. The Centennial doesn't have leg adjusters like the Gold Crowns. But still sturdy. I've...

    OMGWTF is at it again!

I keep to myself at pool halls. I rarely play against people. I know gambling and playing others improves your game and all. But I prefer to be in my elysium by myself where I can just think. But when I was 17 I remember I was playing on a Friday Night (By myself as usual) at a pool hall I...

Poker Is Killing The Pool Industry

I could careless if pool or poker was on TV. I only watched the IPT or Pool because it allowed me to study profesionals playing in competition. Other than that though it was pretty boring. No matter how many smoke machines and lasers they put out. What bugs me the most about Poker is how it...

    Banning Fun In Lilburn Georgia

I was suppose to join a traveling team that would have played in Lilburn. But not anymore. I also delivered 3 brand new coin-op tables to a guy who just spent $500,000 revamping a bar. He spent I think $20,000 with us. Including Video Poker Games. The area is a poorer area of town with a...

Feather strips: wood vs. plastic vs. rubber

I prefer wood. Rubber is alright but sometimes you get those waves in them. For the rubber ones when you pound them in you start from the ends instead of the middle. Also with the wood or plastic if you have trouble getting them to fit. You can wrap masking tape around them to make them thicker.

The old guy that hangs out at the pool hall

You see these people anywhere you go. I've done pool table jobs for senior centers/parks that have pool tables. They'll gather around and usually talk about how "Good they use to be" and "How they moved 5" 1peice slate through the jungles of Vietnam by themselves". Their usually is a leader...

So, here comes the Superbowl. Who's going to watch it and who's going to play pool?

Well I don't really care about the Superbowl or Football. I'm personally tired of having customers ask me "Who are you rooting for?". Then when I mention I do not watch football they give me some sort of dumbfounded look. Now after the NFL's latest stunt I hope the Superbowl doesn't even...

Pool hall in Athens Georgia raided for Gambling...

A pool hall which I grew up in (Murphy's Brass Rails) was raided last night for gambling. Now the gambling charges are probably not what you think. It wasn't on a pool table. It was from slot machines. For the rest of the story you can go to Athens Online I personally am against vice laws...

Why do you go to certain pool hall?

I say a good part of a pool hall I choose is atmosphere. Equipmant does play a part but if I don't like the place I'm at then it doesn't matter how well the equipment is. Here in Atlanta there are 3 pool halls I mainly go to and for various reasons. I go to the Pool Room Duluth when i'm...

    Lady Cues

It looked like sort of like the picture that Rackem showed. Except bright pink. I saw a girl using it at a pool hall here in Atlanta. It looked like it should have had an on/off switch. And I bet that stick would be illegal in Alabama. She's going to be in there for I think another 2...

Oh God, it's a 1 piece slate table, can I move it by myself?

    1) Yes. If you have a specialty built dolly like we do. 2) Yes - Make sure they have good health insurance. And you'll only need 2 more if you have a special dolly made for moving 1peice slate tables. 3) Yes - But much safer to let a profesional do it. We are one of the few companies...

    Lady Cues

A good friend of mine is in Rehab right now. But when she gets out for her Christmas gift I was going to get her a decent cue. However I don't know what a decent cue is for a girl. I've seen her shoot with my 19oz McDermott and it seems like she extends her arm out too much. I do have to...
