    Broken pool cue

Got this one in the shop a while back, haven't got around to fixing it yet. McDermott "Tournament of Champions" cue. Was not abused. Let it slip through his fingers and hit the floor and just popped. Must have had a stress riser and hit just right. Didn't help that there was no bumper in place...

Where do you find tip centering live centers. I’ve seen some good looking ones on you tube?

Chris Hightower has a "Live Center Small Concave 3/8 shank" on his site here https://www.cuesmith.com/small-concave-live-center-3-8-shank/ . Even though it says it's concave faced you can call or email Chris and he will supply it with a flat face. Works great for putting on flat faced tips...

Tip glue - the best or preferences?

If you search back through the tip glue threads I think you'll find the most mentioned will be Loctite Ultra Gel Control. I've been using it for years with no issues. You'll always find a few tip/ferrule combinations that will be more difficult to get to stay on (I'm looking at you White...

    Carnon fiber shaft build

Let me try to help you help yourself. Carbon fiber shafts have been discussed here many times. You can use the search function of the forum to find all the answers to the questions you asked. But there's also a google trick that I use all the time when researching a topic (any topic). If you...

    CNC Router dust extraction

Agree, if I had the room and was building more than a couple cues a month I'd have a dedicated taper machine. But sometimes we have make the best with what we have. I built my shop up with the idea of making the most from the equipment I have, in many cases that means having one machine doing...

    CNC Router dust extraction

Got a couple quick shots but not very good since the shop is a complete mess right now. Hopefully you'll get the idea. This first one shows the Plexiglas "wall" mounted to the side of the table and how high it is. As you can see, it barely clears the gantry. It goes around three sides. *Tip*...

    CNC Router dust extraction

Running the same thing here. And yes those chips go EVERYWHERE! What I did and seems to work really well.... I cut some 1/4" Plexiglas and ran it almost all the way around three sides of the table just tall enough that it cleared the gantry. That helped quite a bit but those damn chips would...

    Shaft wood

Simple answer, yes! The growth rings are the grain. If you turn the shaft 90 degrees from where you are looking at the "oval" lines you'll see that those same lines turn into straight lines as the shaft gets fatter. The reason they turn into ovals is because the grain/growth ring runs out the...

    Sorry, the sale is over

I'm not Tom but maybe this will help? https://layeredcuetips.com/faq.php I shoot with the Pro tips and yes they are the softest. To me, they play as close to an Elkmaster as any layered tip I've tried. I find they need a little less maintenance than Elkmasters. Usually only have to dress the...

Whyte Carbon https://whytecarbon.com/products/3-8-10m Not my cup of tea but I do like what they are doing with how they lay up their carbon fiber shafts. Would like to try one out but not at that price. ;)

What to put on the ferrule end of the shaft to prevent chalk from sticking into the wood?

Sorry Slim, didn't even see your response.... I opened and started a reply then got sidetracked for a couple hours before I got back to post it and your post wasn't on the page yet. oops... Anyway, spot on! I can always tell who wipes their tip and who doesn't when I'm replacing tips! ;) (I can...

What to put on the ferrule end of the shaft to prevent chalk from sticking into the wood?

Also, always wipe the chalk off your tip/ferrule before putting it into your case with a cloth or napkin or something. You'd be surprised how much that will help with keeping the whole shaft cleaner. Especially if you insert the shaft tip first.
