Question Regarding Taking Apart Old Brunswick, teens or 20's?

Thanks! Yes, I'll take extra care with the slates, I've seen the older pinned slates on other tables that always seem to be cracked from people not sliding the slates apart before lifting. I looked on the Brunswick website under the catalogs, looks like this may be the Reno model made from...

Question Regarding Taking Apart Old Brunswick, teens or 20's?

Hi, I was given a table for free, but I need to take it apart myself, me and a team of several brother in laws, and get it out of the house ASAP this weekend. Looking for advice on the order of disassembly, where to start, ...assuming there are bolts under the rails that need to come out as a...

Brunswick Gold Crown VI (Tournament Edition)

I had a Gold Crown IV, ball return with the matching light, that table played perfect! Never had a problem. I sold that one unfortunately when the economy turned bad back in 2008. I have wanted a V for about 10 years now, I think that might be the best looking Gold Crown since the white and...

    Custom art cases

Those are awesome, do you need any particular type of case to do the art work or will any case work? Could you reproduce my profile pic on a case?

Brunswick Gold Crown VI (Tournament Edition)

I love Brunswick, I just wish they retained some USA manufacturing. I think the 6 is visually a bad table and was disappointed to hear that it potentially had quality issues in addition to the cosmetic issues, but very good to hear that Brunswick Corporate took care of the problem. Something...

Brunswick Gold Crown VI (Tournament Edition)

Looks are subjective for sure. Brunswick put the Gold Crown VI up for a design competition among design students and this is how the design was developed and selected. In my opinion, Brunswick would have been better served following the Porsche 911 model of design change--small changes, but...

    Rambow Article from 1928

Great article, thanks for sharing! I'd be interested too how cue butts became standardized over the years. I play with a Robinson cue, John Robinson, which has a smaller diameter butt than standard cues and, although I have large hands, I love it, feels much more surgical and responsive to...

Brunswick Gold Crown VI (Tournament Edition)

As a Brunswick fan and a GC fan generally, this info on the GC VI is very disappointing! I have never been a fan of the massive design change to the GC VI, probably one of the most visually offensive tables I've ever seen. For any fan of the classic Gold Crown lines, this table is an affront...

Thickness of Slate; Effect on Playability, 1.5", 2" slates vintage tables and Connellys?

It definitely seems from studying the history of the Brunswick jumbo frame tables that the thick slates were especially common on the Carom tables, the large snooker tables and that carried over to many of the 5x10's, the 6 pocket pool tables. Maybe the thought was to give those massive 5x10's...

Thickness of Slate; Effect on Playability, 1.5", 2" slates vintage tables and Connellys?

Thanks, appreciate the feedback! From what I can tell, looks like Brunswick didn't really offer the 1.5" slate option on the tables after 1940. I do see a lot of the jumbo frame tables from the 20's seem to be fitted with those thick slates. They are beauties.

Thickness of Slate; Effect on Playability, 1.5", 2" slates vintage tables and Connellys?

Hi all, I'm currently looking at purchasing several different vintage Brunswick jumbo frame tables from the teens and 20's, Kling, Regina, Arcade. Brunswick offered 1.5" slates as options on these tables and Connelly recently offered their ultimate package with massive 2" slate. Any...

    The incomparable Brunswick Centennial

How many Centennials did you have restored, that's more aluminum than fits on 1 table obviously? Did you ever set your table up?

    Hopkins-Lassiter challenge match from 1973

There's a great video on Youtube of Allen Hopkins vs. Mika Immonen playing in the 2012 14.1 World Championship. Allen won. It's interesting, I think in the last 20 years it seems players are becoming less unique, more formulaic, almost mechanical. Maybe because of the internet. A lot of...

Ideas for Joint Pin Adapter for fitting a Carbon Fiber shaft to a Robinson Cue 5/16-18?

My Robinson cue, like all Robinson cues, has a 5/16-18 pin on the shaft that screws into the butt instead of the pin being part and screwing into the shaft. I'd like to figure out a way to use a carbon fiber shaft on my Robinson butt. Any ideas about either a joint adapter that may already be...

    Carpet for gold crown?

Whenever I hear basement, garage, any location that could have potential moisture or dampness, carpet can be challenging with mildew and smell. Once you get moisture, just seems to get worse over time with carpet. The carpet tiles might be best of both worlds, I believe the backing is rubber on...

    Carpet for gold crown?

Don't sleep on black rubber gym mats for a billiard room! I went with "horse stall mats" you can get them at Tractor Supply or any number of places for under $50 per mat, I think 4x8. Mine are an inch thick and no settling or other problems that effect the table staying level. They look...

10 FT. Brunswick Anniversary Carom Table

What happened to all of the original aluminum castings for the corners and legs? Do you have any of the original castings? Is the heated slate a modification as well? Thanks!
