Almost there JFred's advice was solid. I decided, however, I am not a good prepper. Obviously, after painting, I figured out there were other dents, dings and scratches I missed. My high gloss finish showed to many imperfections, so I repsprayed with a textured finish

Many CM's sign their cues. While it is easily reproducible, so are the other things you mentioned. (Unless they keep it a secret)

I might get flamed for this, but I watched a youtube vid on the steps of dismantling a Gandy and it was basically the same steps as other advice I received or know about for most any table.
