Do you look at the cue ball or object ball when shooting?

Thank you! I'll set up some drills tonight to consciously try to make the transition a little earlier, and work on making that more natural. It's like various parts of a golf swing. If you're conscious of the movements during the stroke, you have work to do. LOL

Do you look at the cue ball or object ball when shooting?

I realized as I played this evening that I don't stay focused on either, and that's a fundamental problem I need to work out. As I take my practice strokes, I'm on the CB, but it's only has I'm stroking forward for the shot that I transition to the OB. I tend to look up or lift up a bit on...

this is why I hate 9 ball

Thank you. Figured you to be affiliated as a coach or professor of some sort as a GM, not so much a part of that team. I see after a quick look at that team that there are a few GMs of college age, which surprised me a bit. My own title of Municipal Patzer is one I've held with great pride...

this is why I hate 9 ball

I would expect that answer from a top level chess player (part of the Texas Tech program?). Makes some sense in that game because there's an inherent advantage to moving first. However, there is one move before the first break in a 9 ball tournament that isn't present in a format like chess...

Simonis Tour Blue or Green on wooden table?

I really like the Simonis Green that they offer. Part of me just wanted the change, but I had them send a swatch of royal blue, Simonis Green, and Tourney Blue. I put the balls I had over each of them, and the 6 ball blended into the green. The 2 ball disappeared on the royal blue. The...

Simonis Tour Blue or Green on wooden table?

Thanks! yeah, between the new cloth, new balls, and Magic Chalk (no affiliation), I feel like I'm getting three tables' worth of draw on every shot.

Simonis Tour Blue or Green on wooden table?

HA! Very true. The golf analogies don't quite work, either. I tell you, though, the balls really stand out on this color. I switched my overhead lights to the "daylight" LEDs, and the difference in visibility is amazing.

Simonis Tour Blue or Green on wooden table?

So, this is what my table now looks like. I love the Tournament Blue in 860HR, and matched with Aramith Tournament balls, I'm happier than a puppy with two peters.

Why Do Grown Men Stare At Women in

I sorta thought that watching women bend over a table was why pocket billiards was invented. The same thing happens in the engineering world. A woman in a meeting is strange thing. I wonder if some of the turbo nerds have ever actually seen a nipple up close without having to stuff money into...

Cyclop, Super Aramith, or Centennial Balls?

Thanks! I'd seen an Amazon review (and perhaps a comment on this thread...not going to go hunting for it)...that mentioned the black logo cue ball felt different than the other balls. I haven't weighed my set, but it feels fine to me.

Cyclop, Super Aramith, or Centennial Balls?

Welp, I was surprised by my wife with a set of Tournaments late last week, not long after I'd sold my Super Aramith Pros. Gotta say this set is stunning. I thought the Centennials looked better, but I'm not so sure now. They play great, and the cue ball seems to be the same weight and feel as...

    Burn spots on pool balls?

The 2 was hit with some speed, and it skidded a bit on its short ride to the pocket. The little mark was clear when I pulled the balls off the table. It looked kind of like a water spot on a freshly washed car...very small and lighter in color than the surrounding paint. Anyway, I went back...

    Burn spots on pool balls?

I wish I could, but it isn't showing up well enough to do any good. It's also faded a bit by my attempts to polish it out. Sorta wish I could kill the thread now. I guess the reason no one posts about it is because it doesn't really happen, or isn't permanent. Appreciate the response.

    Burn spots on pool balls?

Yeah, I had to say "pool balls", because we're all 12 years old inside. I figure if I didn't, someone would tell me not to fall asleep with a cigar in my lap. So I was surprised with a set of Aramith Tournaments today, part of a 1-2 punch that will be completed with new 860HR cloth next week...

What "Mods" have you made to your favorite playing cue and why?

The What: Replaced butt sleeve, butt cap, and wrap with identical factory replacements. The Why: I slammed, er...rapidly modified the bottom of my cue via impact with the ground due to a missed easy shot and momentarily poor self-control (a condition known medically as "Momenticus assaholus").
