Any way to repair a shattered buttcap?

I would have thought the manufacturer would be the preference, but I've been wrong before...and in this very thread. Thanks!

Any way to repair a shattered buttcap?

Thank you for that. Ouch. Well, at least it may help us each to know we aren't alone. LOL My only real question now is whether it makes much difference to have the local cue guy do it or send it back to the OEM, which will do the repair in-house (meaning not shipped to their manufacturing...

    Any tips for a beginner?

Play Your Best Straight Pool, by Mr. Capelle. He teaches how to think through the rack and look for things you might not see otherwise. I am a fellow 14.1 neophyte. Got the book at Christmas, and had a 17 ball run last night, through 2 break shots. Straight pool is a different animal than...

Any way to repair a shattered buttcap?

I dunno how much sarcasm is loaded into that, but it works even if it's dripping with it. LOL So my new Mezz/Schon waits a little while, and I start looking for deep pile carpeting to cover up the tile, just in case I decide to turn 5 years old again.

Any way to repair a shattered buttcap?

Not only is the guy who slammed the cue a hothead, he's also sleeping with my wife. :o Since there's an argument brewing, I will come clean. The horse's ass in question is yours truly. It was a momentary flash of anger taken out on an inanimate object that didn't deserve it, and damned...

Any way to repair a shattered buttcap?

He can be, and he did. He's a big guy who hates to lose, doesn't know his own strength, and had missed several easy shots after a very long day when nothing went right. Frustration just got the better of him. He didn't mean to break the cue and feels like a tool for abusing it. He learned...

Any way to repair a shattered buttcap?

Thanks. I think I'm going to have the damaged piece replaced. The wrap could probably use replacement, too. The cue isn't terribly expensive, but my kids are already arguing over it, so I want it fixed and in good shape.

Any way to repair a shattered buttcap?

Thank you. I should have realized that would be bad form. I wasn't really soliciting bids, but trying to get a general ballpark of what Balabushka would say. I should have known better. Thanks again. Post was edited to remove the question. Apologies for that.

Any way to repair a shattered buttcap?

Well, I've pinged Balabushka (in their Tempe, AZ, office) to see what they say. I don't think they'd be shipping to Japan in any case. I may go the local route, regardless, but I'll see what they tell me first. [Deleted.]

Any way to repair a shattered buttcap?

Really? That can be repaired? I wouldn't have thought so, so thank you. It's a 14 year old Adam Balabushka (Japanese made). I'll contact one of them and see, then. I guess the company has since split, so I have two avenues, I suppose.

Any way to repair a shattered buttcap?

So, the a$$hole hothead who was shooting with my cue missed an easy shot and slammed the cue down onto the tile floor and produced this damage. There's a crack up to the wrap, and obviously the buttcap is, well, in pieces. The guy who did it is sick to his stomach about ruining this cue. I...

We Are a Cursed Group, Silver Membership Withdrawn

Ha! Good line. I once actually went through this (fairly well known but rarely used) exchange: "Nice green eyes. Do you have a little Irish in you?" "No, I don't." "Would you like to have a little Irish in you?"

    Magic Chalk Review

I must admit: I didn't expect to notice a difference in chalk, but I have. I used Master Chalk for a long time, and since my green table is due for a cloth change, I went ahead and switched to blue Balabushka chalk that was a gift given to me many years ago. Despite regular chalking, I began...

    Who invented veneers and why?

Good answer! It's also a little known fact that the oldest discovered hieroglyphics translate to "FS: Schon with Predator Shaft. Hits a ton."

    Mezz EC-7 WMP

I have had my heart set on a Schon, but reading about Mezz has me re-thinking that. I like a good, firm hit. I wish they offered their cues in 21oz without having to pay them for another weight bolt, etc. (I haven't priced it, but assume it's more expensive.) (Edit: It's cheap, assuming I...

    Bad Beat----The Golden Break

Back in my college days, my roommate and I used to play a little 9 ball at Prescott's one pool hall. Nice little place with a bunch of 9 ft tables. Anyway, we were playing a race to 11, and he jumped out to a 6-1 lead. I had the break after my first win and proceed to drop the 9 on the snap...

Update: California Ivory Ban (July 1, 2016)

Ha! I see your point. However, maybe, maybe not. What's to stop him from taking delivery of all of the components, then having the cue assembled later (by the custom cue maker)?
