Maybe my question was not clear. I have an old fiishing reel with line that resembles irish linen. I believe it is Cortland fishing line. It is green and white in color. Siimilar in diameter to irish linen. Is this the same material that was used to wrap cues before the supplies of it...

Interesting discussion. I just started playing in the APA (8 ball) this summer. Been playing in other local leagues for many years. Just needed a change of pace. (Got sick of the B.S. in my regular 9 ball league) Haven't seen much of the sandbagging and unsportsmanlike play in the APA....yet...

Tracy, Can you tell me more about the small lathe? How does the shaft fit in? Does it go through the center on the left hand side while being held in place with collets? (I am not a experienced with lathes so please forgive my lack of knowledge) Thanks, Scott

It's depressing when you add up all the costs for playing in a league vs. the money that is paid out. Not just dues. Food, beverages, gasoline, dues..... Good thing I like the people I play with...

I play with a fellow in league that uses a Rauenzahn. Nice looking cues, but the finish seems to wear quickly. (Maybe it is just how this particular player treats the cue.)

My only quirk: if it feels good when I hit balls with it. It all boils down to personal prefernece.

I mailed my cue (priority mail) on April 19th. I received it May 10.

Not interested in trying to do the repair myself. I'll leave that up to the professionals. I just had a cue refinished and rewrapped by Proficient Billiards and it turned out great. It was pretty beat up when I sent it in, and it looks and feels brand new now. Thanks everybody.

How do you remove the cracked ferrule without damaging the tenon? Thanks.

I just received a new cue (new to me) that has a cracked Ivory ferrule. Can it be replaced without the shaft ending up shorter? Fortunately I've never had a cracked ferrule or broken tenon, so this is a first for me. Thanks.

Talk with you optician/eye doctor. I had a problem with things looking blurry when looking through the top of my lenses (being down on the cue). My eye doctor was able to specify where the optical center of the lens was when he ordered new lenses for me. He had the optical center of the lens...

Have you tried a regular 5/16-14 thread protector? I have an older JW and a regular protector fits as well as ones I had made using a 5/16-14 Acme tap.
