possible ebay scam Nitti cue

Its tough to say. I mean, he only heas five sales in history and 4 of them are positive but you can't tell what they're for. PLus, a Nitti cue with that kind of ivory inlay work should NOT be listed at $100 with no reserve. Something doesn't seem right.

Ebay is becoming a very volatile place to buy cues. I've had Ebayer's take pictures from one of my old auctions and create there own auction with them. I've seen my pictures many times being offered for sale. One thing to watch out for is very short auctions and people with 0 feedbacks. People register bogus names and try to get a fast sucker. These people try to get in and out before to many people can recognize the cues. The starting bid doesn't really matter in an auction. This is a way to show alot of bids and a hotter product. Best thing I can tell you is buy from a reputable seller, and if he doesn't reply to you just move on....

you know I think that I have seen the butt end of that cue awhile back on ebay but i'm not sure , it's not the best design but I love the points on that cue (Nitti )anyway.

Hi-Ken, I seen your booth at the expo and kept waiting for your website to be built and I was looking for those SW cues you had at the expoI beleive they were 2200 apiece but not sure but I don't see them up so I guess you sold them!

Steve

you know I think they can get your information for an ebay account( by a false email to you) but never your email info thats why I like to get a reply on the auction page because that has to go directly to you , so if they don't answer any of your questions it's not a lagit auction IMO

I had this problem a few weeks ago. There was a sweet Bert Schrager on there with a Porper break cue and a nice leather case for $1000. I watched it and emailed the guy every day looking for information and asking if he was will to use Proficient Billiards as an Escrow service. He never responded, i watched the auction right until the last few second and someone bid right before i was going to. I didnt want to outbid for fear of it being a scam, but i kinda feel like i missed a great deal, even though it likely was a scam.

Hi Steve
I've been putting cues on my site. By next week there should be a whole lot up there. I didn't want to put up the link until I get the kinks out of the site and improve the pictures ect.. I do have a couple of SW's, but trying to figure out how to get them to fit on this site.. Shoot me a email I'll send you pics. Qball623@aol.com
Best,
Ken

I'm familiar with the winner ($1000) of the cue, tukinlugs97,,,this person would not bid on a scammed item,,,IMHO

Its possible you missed a great deal. If you consider the alternative however, I think you made the right decision. ;)

well this was my last chance to have the seller respond

I said-
hi-with all the frauderent going on with ebay, especially with cue auctions and 1 day sales I don't know if this is a lagit auction or not? so if you respond to this question or my other shaft questions then it would be a lagit auction ,Thanks

first email-
hi- what is the shafts sizes

second email- i must have deleted , but it was a shaft ?

I seen alot of his buys (tukinlugs97) on ebay and I wasn't about to jump in on a one day auction that quick

but anyways if he won good for him but I didn't get the right vibes with this auction thats why I asked all these questions

first reaction was this guy dosen't do to much on ebay and probably vulnable to a email saying his account was in jeopardy if he didn't respond to this email and gave up his ID , but you coukld never give up your email account thats the difference.

but if he won, good , I think the cue was worth 1400 or better

I saw this auction, liked the cue and the price (including the ending 1k), but as mentioned previously got a bad vibe from the auction. 1 day auction, only 5 FB for the seller (and none for almost 6 months). I also sent an email (just one) and got no reply. It wasn't worth the risk, at least not to me.

Jack...since you seem to know the winner, "tukinlugs97," it might be interesting to find out how it works out.

One thing though, if you win a "questionable" auction like this, you really haven't been scammed until you send the money. I'm sure there are some steps you can take to verify the auction & seller before you so that.

Auction specified payment by money order only even though paypal was listed as an approved payment method.

"Seller's payment instructions
I will ship in the U.S. as soon as I have cash in hand. Payment by Money Orders only."

There was also a Samboti on e-bay yesterday with a starting price of $100. I believe it got yanked.

don't know him personally,,,,just monitor a lot of cue buying and he (and a lot of others) doesn't bid on suspect items,,,

E-bay rip off

There is no way I would bid on a cue for that kind of money without knowing that it is a "legit" sale from a reputable seller.I would rather spend $1400 knowing I was getting what I paid for then $1000 for nothing.I can't imagine sending a grand for a cue and then waiting for it, and then not recieving it.that would really piss me off.I'm getting annoyed just thinking about it.
