I am not worried about cosmetics. I would just like a tight compression.

I have had the cue for several years and the original shafts still fit very snugly into the joint. I think it may take several more thousand screwings before they wear down until they are loose.

I prefer the blue also, but the tan doesn't discolor your shafts and hands as much.

Earl Strickland is using a Mike Gulyassy 58" cue with a 14mm shaft, a black phenolic ferrule, and an Elkmaster tip. I dont know what brand of tennis wrap and duct tape is wrapped around the handle! :)
