Stanley West 4 Point Full Splice Cue

Stanley West Cues Wow! That's a throwback!! When I was in Germany in the mid 80's, the Stanley West Line of cues was a pretty popular cue for German players who didn't step up in price to McDermott, Meucci and Joss. It had a lot to do with the exchange rate at that time. Two of my friends who...

Feasability of European-style private billiard clubs in the U.S.?

German Style Billiard Clubs I was a member of the club system back in the 80's, and have always loved the concept of the Verbandsliga, Kreisliga, Bundesliga developmental program. I attempted to get the BCA to encourage looking at this concept back in the early 90's when I was Assistant League...

    This happened tonight.

Side pots Your second sentence says everything you need to know about payout distribution. Players MUST pay to qualify for the money. We have a weekly tournament with a player funded side pot(No House Added Money), and it is not required to add the $ to the side pot to play in the weekly...

Who's This Guy Wearing That Cool One Pocket T Shirt?

I know that guy! Jay, I recall that guy. I had just finished playing Keith M. at a weekly tournament at Hard Times in Bellflower in 1999, and saw this dude down in the pit banging balls around. I rail birded him for about 10 minutes and figured, "Hell, with that crazy stroke, no way he can last...

    8 on the break

8 on the Break Gods Scott, you have heard every story imaginable on the pool table. This is just another of those whoppers that are Urban Legend. You know no one is going to take that bet.

    8 on the break

8 on the Break Cash Prize I just instituted this at a small local bar during our Thursday Night Tournaments. Of course, it is called "Straight 8" here in our corner of Cajun Country. I donated my 2nd Place money the last two weeks to do an 8 on the break contest as an incentive to get going...

    BCA Hall of Fame

Without a brick and mortar structure to make the masses aware of the existence of the extensive history of pool and billiards, it is merely a list of names. Millions of people who play, don't know of any of them. Other HoF's require that players/coaches,etc. no longer be active to be considered...

    WPA Failure: International Olympic Committee

Like a straight edge on concrete LOL, that you found his writing, not only tedious, but disrespectful, causes me concern that you have little contact with eclectic personalities. You may disregard my defense of his ineptitudes with a "shift-enter" function. However, please do not disregard his...

    WPA Failure: International Olympic Committee

Paragraphs? Haha, this WAS a John Lewis paragraph. He packs more information in a single paragraph, than most can do with an entire tome, ghost written by a scholar of English Letters. Instead of being snippy, and appreciating the input of one of the most knowledgeable people in the pool world...

Call shot, Call safe Rules for 10 ball

Two Way Shot I agree. This is a huge part of my playing strategy, and has been for 40 years. It diminishes an opponents confidence, if and when you miss, they are always looking from the wrong side of the next ball in order. Huge in 9 Ball...in 10 Ball,Monstrous. IMHO, also.

BCA Ignores Pro Pool and Continues to Fatten Industry Members' Pockets

Lyn, thank you for the explanation. I agree, with bar coding and other application technologies, you'd think they could have you assigned a player specific number and you use it everywhere you play. Especially handy for Snowbirds who Summer North and Winter elsewhere. Thanks again for the...

BCA Ignores Pro Pool and Continues to Fatten Industry Members' Pockets

In the "old" BCA League System, if you sanctioned in one league, you were sanctioned in any BCA League. You merely had to pay any local fees that were collected by the league operator. I am not aware of the requirements of the "new" BCAPL in regards to sanctioning or membership. I have input...

    Duprytren's Contracture?

Duprytrens Contracture Yes, I have it. My Mom and her Father had it. It has developed more severely over the past 10 years. I wear braces to help keep my hands somewhat rigid for daily use. It has deteriorated my ability to play pool. Mostly due to the ring and middle finger being the ones most...
