Where should I go to become a Pro.

If you're really serious about getting some pool competition, I'd recommend you get a new gf in the Tokyo area, because that's where the all action is ;)

Where should I go to become a Pro.

Hi Rin, Are you going to be in Tokyo? There's a pro tour and some big events coming up including the Japan Open next month. Get yourself entered and you can see how you match up against some of the best pros and amateurs in Japan. I'll probably play in a few as well, so let me know if...

A World Champion in all cue sports disciplines

If it were to happen, it would most likely be snooker player who switches to the other games because the level of play in snooker now is just too high for players from other disciplines to come in be competitive. And we probably won't see that happen because a world champion snooker player has...

Is there such a thing as a cooperative game of pool?

I sometimes play scotch doubles against the ghost with some of my league mates when I'm teaching them. I think it's a good way to teach patterns and discuss strategies in an actual game situation.

    Over The Rail Shot

During each practice session, play a few of racks where you take ball in hand and put the cue ball against the rail for every shot. You'll get good at them real quick.

Any BOWLLIARDS / BOWLING game fans out there?

If you can score 630 or over total in 3 games (450 for ladies), that's enough to pass the "Pro Test" to become a recognized professional in Japan.

    ................................

Low deflection shafts are good for certain shots but have their drawbacks as well. I personally switched back to standard shafts a few years back and am very happy with being able to play with the original shafts for all my cues. Those Taiwanese guys seem to be doing well with their standard...

In pursuit of knowledge regarding livelihood.

First thing's first, get out of the bar and go to a real pool hall and keep at it until you're the best player there, then move on. Most players never get past this point. Pool is a funny game. The better you get at it, the more you realize how much you suck.

cueing downwards as opposed to level?

I've found that using the right elevation for your cue can help cancel out the effects of deflection and throw. When I switched back to a standard shaft from LD, I noticed that adding a little elevation to my cue allowed my to play backhand english without having to make any aiming adjustments...

Is strength required for certain shots??

I agree with everyone else in that accuracy and timing is pretty all you need, but there are a few rare players out there like Mike Massey and Larry Nevel who have accuracy, timing AND strength which allows them to do amazing things with the cue ball.
