Wood burning firepoaces and pool tables -- what are the hazards?

Excellent question- one which I wish I had an answer for, since I will also have a fireplace very close to my table when it is installed. I'm just opting not to use mine because of the proximity (I've never used it anyway). I think much has to do with both the size/BTU output of the...

This is why Pool is COOL...

Pool is cool for me because of the numerous angles and other aspects of geometry and physics involved in shotmaking and position. Another reason pool is cool is the people you meet- from all walks of life. Everyone from doctors and lawyers to drawbridge oilers. Used car dealers to presidents of...

!!! Everybody Must Get Stoned !!!

Yep- IIRC the song was titled "Rainy Day Women #12 & 35"... great tune. What is REALLY strange, though, is the fact that I was thinking of this very song earlier today and I haven't heard it in a very long time!

    Pool Related Pet Peeves...

I think my biggest pet peeve is people who "splash" the pool balls on the table instead of treating the equipment as though it were their own- it downright infuriates me. TOTALLY disrespectful. Cell phones rank right up there, too. Pool rooms without a decent piece of chalk, i.e., ones that...

    J. Pechauer Custom Cues

Bought my Pechauer PS-02 about ten years ago, I suppose I could say it was special order due to the weight I wanted. Incredibly well-balanced- I wouldn't trade it for anything else. Absolutely love it. I also very strongly recommend J. Pechauer cues.

    Survey- Private Billiard Club...

I agree, there should be a higher percentage of niners which is why I voted "maybe" instead of "yes"- I almost voted "no" because of it. Sure, one does need to consider what is most popular in the area, but I would think the serious players who would join such a club would in fact prefer a...

I tried to give you a green rep but it would not let me, so this will have to do- CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    tight pockets bad for pool?

Personally, as I've gotten older I prefer the tighter pockets that force me to shoot with accuracy as well as precision. Granted, IMO they can make 14.1 even more challenging since you have considerably less room for "cheating" the pocket to get shape, but I'm truly growing to love tables that...

    Commentators, others at Turning Stone

I also thoroughly enjoyed the commentating, it really added "spice" to it IMO. Maybe I'll get the DVD's and expand my "Lie Berry" J/K THANK YOU to all who made this viewing possible for us!

While down on the shot: do you roll your eyes along THE line between the 2 points?

This is a very good question, one that I haven't really given much thought to at all. Since I don't have my Diamond nine-footer (yet), I can only go from my ever-getting-so-senile memory. The one thing I know I do is draw the shooting line mentally before getting down over the ball. From there...

NOW is the time to Open a Billiard Room

If I could afford it (I know, everyone says that!)- I would definitely open a pool hall in Bellingham. Time and again I have imagined how nice it would be to have it located at this place, that corner, etc... but I haven't a clue about running a business since I've worked in the public sector...

friggin awsome day watching pool from the turning stone!

The stream here was virtually absent of hiccups compared to some others I've viewed in the past. IMO they were OUTSTANDING matches to watch- and FREE, too! Though I said it in the chat room a couple of times, I will say it here as well: THANK YOU to all who made it possible for us to watch!!!!!

    Trufocus glasses...

I find these to be a very interesting concept. Wish they were less expensive, though... my last pair were over $400 and I thought that was pricey (then again, my prescription requires a dedicated glass factory and individual campaign)-

Do you really know the radius you prefer on your tip?

I see no reason why the radius of a cue tip even needs to be uniform throughout its cross-section. I think I'll use a parabolic or clothoid shape on my tip...

    Cloth color choice.

That is one WILD-looking table! All one has to supply is their own window pane or blotter form of d-lysergic acid diethylamide-25. Oh, I just remembered a local place where the tables do have green cloth (Park Bowl in Boilingham); maybe I'll spend another couple of hours there when I can afford...

    shall we request ban on....

During a commercial break? Dispensing a Tic-Tac? To say nothing about adjacent tables and the clack of pool balls... Man, oh, man, if someone is THAT sensitive to ambient noise they have NO business shooting pool- PERIOD- unless they are in their own isolation capsule!

    Cloth color choice.

As it stands now I'm likely going to have Simonis 860 Tournament Blue cloth on the table. But just to be as objective as possible and practical, I would like to try shooting on green cloth- somewhere. It may be a bit longer in actually purchasing the table now due to other family matters...

    pool table light

That also means no more Lumiline bulbs; that would be a serious bummer for those who have such old-timey fixtures! (Lumiline bulbs are essentially a tubular incandescent bulb). Some of those old Lumiline fixtures are quite decorative. I do believe there are a few areas where incandescent lights...
