Northwest Women's Pool Association (NWPA) Tour Stop #5- The Parlor Billiards and Spir

I think a really great bunch of people run the NWPA in my opinion, and I do enjoy the commentaries given during the streaming matches. Well worth watching!

    Table Tougness.......

It is an interesting idea IMO to attempt to quantify table personalities mathematically, but as is being implied and/or expressed there are too many variables which have effect, e.g., speed of cloth, composition and age of cushions, et cetera. I reckon if additional tools were employed such as...

    Opposite handed

My northpaw stroke is definitely nowhere near as smooth and I tend to reserve it for those times where the OB is a virtual hanger. FWIW I am somewhat ambidextrous, though, so I could probably hone it sharper with time.

    Where is everyone from?

For what it's worth, I'm originally from just outside the Seattle city limits in what is now Shoreline, Washington. Moved from there about 100 miles north to Lynden on a full-time basis in 2004 (bought the house in '01 which is now paid off). And now that my house IS paid off, it's fine time...

    Fatboys Pool Room-Part 1, Part 2 will be in a about 10 daysposted i

Eric- I do hope your heart condition completely heals, having some minor issues myself in comparison I can relate to some degree. As others have said, that is one incredible place you have- truly breathtaking.

Does it pay to be a gentleman??

In my half-century on this orb, I have found that- in the long run- it always pays to be a gentleman. It seems that whenever I choose not to be so, I may appear to win short-term but over the long haul the negative consequences tend to outdo it by a considerable margin.

Why pay for pool lessons when you have expertvillage ?

Yep, I saw that scoop-jump one as well- TOTALLY misleading! When it comes to pool I would rather take lessons from Elmer Fudd, JMO.

Is a 30 Second Shot Clock Enough Time?

My personal opinion is that 45 seconds is just right; 30 is not sufficient, 60 is excessive. One extension per rack. And any sharking attempt by using a rotary dial phone to distract would be automatic DQ (man, oh, man, that thread sure got the techno-geek gears in me turning again :D)

    The AZB Staff appreciation thread.

I also would like to extend my appreciation and thanks to Mike and company for such a great web site. The very first day I signed up I was having a unique registration issue and Mike fixed it post-haste! It was then quite obvious to me that he cares about the members which inspired me to sign...

Do you guys remember rotary telephones?

Ah, the memories of rotary dials... ...I still have a few around in my house, though none are currently hooked up. Many years ago I had a couple of GTE dial phones which you could increase the dialing speed substantially by tweaking the governor inside; it sped dialing up about 50% or so when...

    Ingredients Changeds in Red Bull?

Yeah, too much caffeine- like anything else- ain't good for ya. I recently cut back to around 4-5 cups per day from 7-8 and also no longer drink any caffeinated stuff after high noon (or at least try not to). I found that I do sleep better and my heart doesn't get out-of-sync so much. My...

    Purchasing a new home table

I wholeheartedly agree with the other posters here that if you have the space, go for a Diamond nine-foot table. FWIW, I posted my room dimensions here and received outstanding advice from several people; if there are potential challenges to fitting the niner in, you might consider doing...
