During a match I wash my hands, dry w/a paper towel and then use that towel to wipe the shafts, IF they become sticky, and use a dry towel between turns at the table.... in the unlikely scenairo where I happen to miss. :groucho:

I collect cases and Sailor cues. Nobody with any sense collects Sailor cues because there is no market for them. But... I like'm so... whaddayagunnado? I'm also a recreational player and a railbird and I like to do minor projects with leather.

You got rid of the powder so now skip the wax. It's not necessary. Just burnish with the leather and it doesn't get sticky like the wax does.

My STRONG advice is to NOT do this yourself. Just hire the table mechanic to come and do it or risk table damage. At best the slates come loose and have to be releveled.

Keep it simple. Clean with a Magic Eraser slightly dampened with water or denatured alcohol. It'll feel kind of "hairy" after so take a few lite swipes with 800 grit, then 1000 grit and then burnish with leather. Pass on all other chemicals. They ALL get sticky.... ALL OF THEM!!!!!! Just...
