Is Pool Too Tough For the Average Mind?

It's a silly question, do you have to be brilliant to play a great piano or guitar or any other human talent? The answer is no.

    Tried to help

My favorite place to play pool has turned into a dart room, irritates me bad. Pool players tend to respect things, dart players not so much.

On And Off Switch, A Good Thing?.

My on switch is flipped whenever someone irritates me or pisses me off, If you get under my skin I won't lose. I don't get mad at the game but I do get mad at the individuals.

    It is impossible to play

Best wishes to you too. Playing for end of year honors (in my little pool world) last year I almost dropped out after my first match. When my second match was called I said what the hell, go for it. I ended up winning the thing. I never know what's going to happen from minute to minute. I...

    It is impossible to play

your A game when you don't feel well. I still play a good game but not my best. My health has been going down hill for over 3 years and I'm at the point of giving pool up. Very frustrating. I'm going to a tournament today and will probably just watch because if I can't play the game that's the...

    Your experience with bar bangers

I don't know why really but this poll bothers me, your answer is in the results though. 95% of the players I know play for fun, you meet some very fine people in bars who play pool and some dipshits. I've seen both types in pool rooms too. I've only been playing a little over 40 years so maybe I...

How much does your playing cue weigh?

My store bought Lucasi is 19.5 but when I use a bar cue it is usually 19, if not I go heavier. The tip is more important than the weight to me.

    Age Catch's up...when to retirel?

I stopped playing seriously this year because I can't play my best game any more. I've noticed a big drop off over the past two years so I felt it was time. The thing I enjoy now is instructing the young ones about how to play the game. I enjoy it very much when I see the lightbulb go off in...

    Pool Maners

It depends on who I'm playing, when my opponent promptly snaps his cue in half I walk away. Both is the correct response but it does depend on other factors.

What Games Did You Start With?

1-15 8-Ball, snooker, golf, bottle pool, cut throat etc... My favorite was and still is bottle pool, I think that taught me the ball control I have now. We played on a snooker table and I guess I was 7 or 8 back then.

How do you rate yourself as a player?

I don't try to rate myself because it's entertainment and I don't do leagues. I've been playing about 40+ years and I enjoy transferring all that knowledge to the lesser players these days. If someone improves their game because of things I've showed them I am very happy.

The REASON you don't play pool well.

I play poor when I have other things on my mind.

    What is pool to you?

I started playing at age 7 or 8 to give me and my cousins something to do. My Uncle had a snooker table in the rec room. Currently pool is 100 percent entertainment and for recreation. It's a distraction from life's twists and turns. Love to play and probably will play until I can't get to the...

    Lost.......need help locating....

When I was in a slump a few years ago I told one of the better players I had lost my game, he said he thought he saw it over by the big screen TV. For what ever reason that worked and I shot lights out for a long time. Now when I'm off my game I ask this same guy if he has seen it, he always...

Several thousand hours as a young-in (Under 25), Since I turned 45 maybe 4-6 hours a week. Big gap in between because of working. I'm 51 now and only play for entertainment.

Can you explain how the break and run raffle works? Sounds like something my local tourney could use. TIA
